Hey all. What are peoples experiences after getting the green card approval letter, for those who have, in getting the ACTUAL green card.

My letter explicitly said I should get it in 3 weeks.

It is now been more than 6 and I am worried. Do you think they may have reopened my case? Found something they didnt notice? Is this normal? And I dont know what to do but am freaking out. After the interview was super nervous, now its worse. Help please anyone!

Hi TonyDanza, (lol...your username reminds me of some 80's tv show character).

Recently, there has been a USCIS 8-week delay in getting green cards, for everyone, which you can read about here:

http://www.uscis.gov/portal/site/uscis/men...00045f3d6a1RCRD

Likewise, my 10yr green card was delayed too, because of this. See my VJ detailed timeline for more info...

Hope this helps. Good luck on your immigration journey too.

Relax. Even I read the USCIS update on Green Card delays. I don't think your case was re-opened. Its rare they do that. You may contact USCIS or make an infopass but it wont be much of use unless you come across an officer who is helpful. Wait and See Strategy is the best. Good Luck and Congratulations.

Hi TonyDanza,

You're welcome for the reply...Glad to be able to help there.. :)

And yes, it certainly takes a lot of helpful people out there on VJ to make the website work. Actually, I found out about this news from another VJ message thread, posted from another VJer, on the I-751 boards here: http://www.visajourney.com/forums/index.ph...c=199623&hl=

So that helped me too. And they are the ones that really deserve the credit there. I'm just passing on the message, that's all... ;)

By the way, while you are waiting, you can also get an infopass appointment, where they can stamp your passport with a "Temporary I-551 stamp", which works like a "temporary green card", good for travel and employment purposes. Just show them your approval letter and other identification, and you should be ok there.

Good luck with the rest of your immigration journey too. Hope you get your green card soon too!

Ant

P.S. Ahh ha...Now I remember...Tony Danza= Actor on "Who's the Boss" (an 80's/90's American tv show)...thought that name sounded familiar....
