UK to US - Go thru US Customs outside the US?

My 20-year-old step-daughter is flying over from the UK to the US on Saturday for a summer visit. It seems like I remember reading something a couple years ago on here that there was an airport somewhere that if you went through that airport and then directly to the US you went through US Customs at that airport. Is this correct or do I have Alzheimer's? Anyhow, she flies from Manchester to Amsterdam to Memphis, Tennessee and then to Mobile, Alabama. She has a horrible nearly six hour layover in Amsterdam, but we saved over $500 doing it that way and we couldn't have afforded the nearly $1,500 ticket flying more direct.

You must be thinking of Dublin - otherwise Amsterdam to US will require clearing CBP in Memphis.

Yep, that's Dublin. I've flown from the UK to the US at least 10 times and I've never done customs in the UK. But I have done US customs in Dublin. Hope she has good flights!

Does Dublin do Customs or Immigration-only (the latter, last-I-heard; also, O&K and Marina-Del forgot entirely about Shannon a "clone PFI" of Dublin)?

Otherwise, one can always route the flight to go through Canada (for US destinations in Central and Eastern timezones, likely routes would be through YUL aka "Trudeau/Dorval" in Montreal or YYZ aka "Toronto Pearson") where 9 airports do both Customs & Immigration.

Thanks for adding that other airport Cherry! I didn't "forget" about it cause I've never been there. I've only been through lots of airports in England (but not all of course) and once through Dublin. I've never flown to the US through any other airports in Europe other than those...so for all I know there might be more through Europe!

I've only been through lots of airports in England (but not all of course) and once through Dublin. I've never flown to the US through any other airports in Europe other than those...so for all I know there might be more through Europe!

Shannon & Dublin, most Canadian airports and some Caribean Islands.. only ones with US pre-clearance facilities.
