Hi!

I'm married to an american citizen, but we have our big reception to which all my family and friends from my homecountry as well as my husband's family are coming to this summer. The problem is that we just received a notice from USCIS that we have the initial interview the SAME DAY as our wedding. I'm panicking, I don't know what to do.

We have the interview scheduled at 10.30 on our wedding day. It is a 4 hour drive there from the wedding site. The wedding starts at 7, but I have to be there at 6, but if I want to be able to do make-up and hair, I should be there by 5!. Can we make it (not the best wedding day, but do we have an option?)? How long is the interview usually and if the notice says 10.30, do they usually start at that time or could we end up waiting there for hours?

What can we do? Any help is appreciated.

Hello... Visa interview or AOS interview??? Either way, I think both are pretty important, wedding can be scheduled late that night or something I would think.

Wedding is already late (7PM and after that it will be dark), and honestly, the wedding is more important than the interview. We could always live somewhere else than the US, but we have planned the wedding day for a long time and people are flying out from across the world. It is important for me to get this whole immigration process completed, but this process was SO demanding and mentally tough. Is it possible to reschedule the interview? rescheduling the wedding is out of question. If we decide to try to make it to both, I hope we can still make it. How long does the AOS interview usually take? an hour or less?

I'd take the interview over anything else! If all these people are coming to visit for your wedding at 7pm then I would assume they are staying the night so why not have the wedding the next day?

We always advise people to not reschedule the AOS interview unless it's an extreme emergency. The wedding reception may be important but if you get denied at the AOS then what good is there? USCIS usually frowns upon rescheduling interviews, unless there's a very good reason for it.

I really want to work this out, and I hope I can reschedule it. But my wedding reception is more important than my green card. We could just as well live in my home country (which we will probably do soon anyways), but now that the process is almost completed, I would like to follow through if it is possible.

I was wondering if anyone could answer this question (as I believe I can make both wedding and interview in the same day):

Approximately how long is the AOS interview? Aboout how much time can I expect that I have to spend at USCIS office that day? If I have the interview at 10.30, is it reasonable to expect it to be done by noon?

I called the USCIS and they rescheduled my AOS interview without any problems. They were very understanding and helpful, and said that my wedding is obviously a good reason to reschedule.

Does anyone know how long after I reschedule they will schedule the new interview? (Cross my fingers it won't be during the honeymoon... In that case we will have to reschedule again haha).
