MOUNT LAUREL, N.J. (AP) — Lawyers in the U.S. and Brazil are preparing to respond to the latest court order in an international custody case.

A Brazilian judge this week said David Goldman should have custody of his son, Sean, for six days a week in Brazil. The arrangement would last until a ruling on the boy's permanent custody.

The Tinton Falls, N.J., man has been trying to bring his 9-year-old son back to the U.S.

His wife took the boy to Brazil on vacation five years ago, decided to stay, married another man and died giving birth to a daughter last year. The boy has been in the custody of his mother's new husband.

The Brazilian family's lawyer says he'll file an appeal.

Goldman's New Jersey lawyer says he will not go to Brazil until he is confident the arrangement won't be scuttled.

THIS IS A BREAKING NEWS UPDATE. Check back soon for further information. AP's earlier story is below.

MOUNT LAUREL, N.J. (AP) — The lawyer for a New Jersey man fighting to have his son returned from Brazil says a videotaped interview with the 9-year-old could cause lasting psychological damage.

The boy says in a transcript released Wednesday that he wants to remain in Brazil.

The lawyer, Patricia Apy, says Sean Goldman is not mature enough to be asked to help decide where he should live.

In 2004, Sean's mother took him for a vacation to her native Brazil and never returned. She later married a Rio de Janeiro lawyer and died last year giving birth to a daughter.

Sean's father, David Goldman, is seeking custody in a case that has been discussed by the presidents of Brazil and the United States.

Don't just open your mouth and prove yourself a fool....put it in writing.

It gets harder the more you know. Because the more you find out, the uglier everything seems.

Yeah dude, thanks. I knew that the boy's mother is dead, it's in the article. I don't know what you mean by "He is with her mother and father".

Anyway, I was drawing a parallel to another situation. My own.

I'm not going to bother going into much of reason why I made the erroneous statment. The boy and his mother lived with her family when they returned to Brazil back in 2004. The custody battle started before she remarried and a few years before she passed away.

This has been all over the news, Dateline, Today Show, Larry King....

What is really Ironic is that the stepfather's Father is a spoke person for the Hague Convention Treaty, Stepfather's family are lawyers that focus in international family cases, it is well know that both Sean's Mother and Stepfather families are powerful families in Brazil. It has been said that the stepfather handle Hague Cases, how Ironic is that.

It's pretty understandable that Sean says he wants to stay in Brazil, after he has been living with the stepfather for the last 5 years. That is the only environment he knows to this point. I don't think a 9 year old knows what is best for him.

Back on June 10th a Judge ruled that Sean needed to return to USA in 48 hours, he did a 82 pages explanation of why he needed to be his father, that is when the family through a third party requested to the supreme court to suspend that ruling.

If you want to know more about the Goldman Case here is the website.

Ugh, this is my worst fear. I still can't get how Brazillian courts can come up with how this kid can be kept in Brazil. Too bad the dad can't go down there, take the kid, show the mom's death cert to get him out of the country and just stay the F**k out of Brazil until the kid turns 18.
