Timeline

We filed for Adjustment of status the end of August 2008, had biometrics soon after and had our interview on April 28th. The interview went great and she told us then that we were approved and should get his greencard in 7 to 10 days. 20 days went by with no greencard, no welcome letter, no card production ordered, NOTHING. Then he called the customer service number and got a woman who, after putting us on hold to pull up his file, still knew absolutely nothing!! All she had on her computer was that we had been transferred to NBC. (YES several months ago!!!) He explained that we had the interview and had been approved. She seemed very confused and told us their policy was that we needed to give them 90 days to get his card to him. My husband was not satisfied with that answer so he made and infopass appointment at the center where we were interviewed (Albany NY). Another 2 weeks went by for the date of the infopass. We drove the 3 hours to Albany and once we were finally called to the window. The woman gave us attitude at first and treated us like we were idiots or else trying to get an approval without an interview. She went somewhere for about 15 minutes then came back called us again and then was EXTREMELY polite. She explained that his file was no longer there and the computer only showed that his case was still "PENDING". She said the woman who interviewed us didn't remember if she approved us or not (We had seen her, she had seen us that day and KNEW she remembered us at least!) She explained that SOMEHOW nothing had been updated in the computer after our interview, she couldn't explain why. She called somewhere to have it "Expedited" back to the Albany office. She kept my husband's passport and said if his file checked out as approved she would stamp it with the I-551 stamp and mail it back to him. 3 days later we got a phone call saying that his passport had been stamped and mailed. 2 days later it arrived with a letter saying card production had been ordered as of the day of the phonecall. So point being, we knew about the delays with greencard approval and assumed that was the reason it hadn't arrived yet but when no welcome letter came and no case update appeared we knew something was wrong. Please everyone just be aware and keep on USCIS until you get that greencard we have all put so much hope, money, and effort into getting. Don't let them get away with all this "Give us time" #######!!! Another note for me to complain about..... Has anyone else notice how SLOW moving and unconcerned everyone at a service center is?????? I saw one woman go out for cigarette breaks 3 times in 40 minutes!!!!!!!!!! Another went outside for "some air" and spent 20 minutes on her cell phone. Obviously no one cares that our partners, our families, our lives are in their hands! I will be so glad when that greencard is in his hand and this whole frustrating ordeal is behind us!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
