We had ours in Lake Tahoe. We just went up there, only the two of us.... Just like going to Vegas and do the ritual. Was solemn having it with just the two of us :jest:

We stayed there for few days just enjoying each other...

nothing extravagant for us either. a simple solemn civil wedding is what we both want. we'll have a family reception (his side) in september when we have the annual family gathering at myrtle beach and family reception (my side) when we come back home in PI next year.

are you allowed to come back to PI after 1 year if you entered as K1? I thought you have to wait around 2 years before you can travel outside US... just wondering

You can travel outside the US as soon as you get an AP. But, it is probably a good idea to wait for your greencard. You can stay outside the US for just less than one year without getting an advance parole permission. The permission will allow you to stay outsude the US for just under than two years.

The problems. Getting your Lifting of conditions 21 months after your greencard is issued. And if you stay out longer than 6 months your time to become a US Citizen starts over.

DEDixon, I could have worn a Tux, but with the groomsmen and the 40 other guys wearing Barongs I would have stuck out like a sore thumb. Besides, wearing a Tux at 90 plus degrees is no fun. When in Rome (Manila) do as the Romans do.

Yeah, that's what i thought.. dealing with USCIS is tough.. if one does not have a greencard yet... i wouldn't suggest leaving unless it's emergency or really important. but that's just me.
