In Obama's address to the Arab World on June 4th, 2009 at Cairo University he made a pledge to expand study abroad oppurtunities to and from the MENA region.

When I applied to study at the American Univeristy in Cairo I was doing something no one had done in all 100 years between my University and theirs. My University in cooperation with Georgetown University had just begun the NESA UGRAD student exchange program to build cultural bridges from North Africa, the Middle East and South Asia to Idaho. link

I just received word from my study abroad office that the IFSA-Butler program is opening a site in Egypt for Spring 2010. Their website Egypt Overview doesn’t have a lot of information yet, but they said it will be coming soon. There seems to be more and more demand in the study abroad world to open more options in Egypt, so it’s great to see IFSA-Butler starting one.

I wanted to let the rest of you who have asked about study abroad oppurtunies for the MENA region know about this one in Egypt.
