When I received my NOA1 2 weeks ago I noticed that they had spelled my name incorrectly. The spelled it Criag instead of Craig. I was scared that I had misspelled my own name, I rechecked all of my paperwork and then realized that they had made the mistake. I called the 800 number and explained to the lady on the phone that is was clearly just a mistake by the person who keyed it into the system and asked if she could correct the problem. She told me that she would need to put a request in to change the name and I would receive an update in 45 days.

Does anyone know if the 45 days is in addition to the normal waiting period?

Thanks!

This happened to my husband. We called USCIS line and told them exactly like you did. It was never changed and his green card was delivered with the same mistake. I would suggest you make an info pass appointment and make sure it is changed. It was a big headache for us. Good luck.

I wouldn't be supprised it this is how long it will take. USCIS seems to take a long for most things. Anyhow good luck.

CRAIG!!!

It won't affect the processing time, but neither will a mis-spelling on the really inconsequential NOA1. It is a receipt, that is all.
