Im sorry guys I don't know where to put this forum. I would like to ask about getting a California Identification Card at DMV. I tried to make an appointment online for next week, June 24 at DMV San Mateo, CA but the schedule is full for that day. I don't have other time to get it and my employer needs my ID. I don't know why my employer asked me for California Identification Card, I got my GC already so why need ID. But anyway, I would like to ask you guys if I can just do a walk-in at DMV and file for ID? If yes, how long does it take to file there? Any one here got ID at DMV San Mateo, CA? Please I need your advise. Thanks.

By the way, I tried to call DMV but couldn't get through.....their line is always busy. :(

What does this job entail? Do you have ride a tank or something? Your employer is being an ignorant fool! . If you have a green card and a valid passport, he should accept them as 2 forms of Photo ID. Google 'form I-9',print it and it take it to him. It specifically states that it is illegal for an employer to tell you what forms of ID they will accept from you. You don't have to outsmart him but just mention it gently. I know Cali DMV has waiting times going back to the dark ages....so I really can't help you with that.

Good luck!

your GC should be enough. its a federal id, only thing better that a GC would be a US passport.

Yes, you can just walk in and apply for an ID. It might take a few weeks to get the id though. Here is the site that shows the info needed to get an id:
