Hi, I filed I-130 for my husband 3 months ago...things are going slowly to say the least. I am worried about one thing for the interview...if we ever get one. Do all people have to get criminal background/record checks? My husband has lived the last 31 years of his life in Ontario, Canada but was born in India. We have no idea how to get a criminal background check from INdia. He left India at 14..it doesn't seem like it would be necessary. Any ideas out there? And does anyone know if you have to get it from each town you lived in?

For the K3 interview, he'll need a nationwide, Canadian name check. Details come in Package 3, I believe. Many get theirs from the RCMP or Commissionaires. Others get it from a local police force. I believe that's all he'll need (nothing from India), since he has lived in Ontario since he was 16.

If you're asking about the interview for CR-1 (I-130), and you only applied 3 months ago, you have quite a ways to go. Check the statistics.

Yeah...I have seen that. I was worried though because getting documents like that from India would take forever or be totally impossible since he hasn't lived there in over 30 years. By the way what is the ImBR I see in your timeline. We are considering going ahead and filing the 129 too to see if we can shorten our wait but I have never heard of that. Thanks
