I have ANOTHER question - go figure! :star:

If we received a RFE for our I-485 (they just want my husband's birth certificate translated into English), will that put a hold on the I-765 and the I-130 as well or will they keep processing those?

For the I-765 we received a notice that they are going to be sending the Biometrics letter, but now will they not do this until they receive the RFE back? I didn't know if EVERYTHING is put on hold when one thing is.

Let me know. Thank you all so much! I love this support!

Have a good day.

I believe technically the other items are on 'hold' pending response for the RFE - in most cases, if you respond quickly and with what they're asking for, the effect on all of your processing is fairly negligible. You may still receive the biometrics appointment letter - if so, you should feel confident to attend the appointment with no issues.

As we filed the AOS package without the 693 medical ( to get it received & NOA intime before i94 expired) we initially received NOAs for the 130 , 485 , 765 all fine but 2 weeks or so later we got a request for initial evidence (for the medical to be completed & the 693 filled in & sent in ) The letter included in the request said that until that evidence (request for said info) had been received by them the whole application will be put on hold .

Once we got that done & sent in within a week we soon got the NOA for the biometrics appointment. So yes everything will be put on hold.

Thanks for that response! I was JUST about to post a question along these lines but you aswered it. Did you apply for the I-131, too? How was it affected by the RFE for initial evidence? How did you send the letter? does USCIS provide a special envelope for it or did you use just regular express mail. I know it's a silly question but I don't want to take any chances and I don't want delays.

I have received an email requesting initial evidence. The email didn't specify what the evidence was for... still waiting for the actual letter.

I got a RFE for my BC and i-864, and the letter mentioned that my whole application was put on hold - Now I am pretty sure that the BC is the reason for it as they have to be able to identify you to issue a work authorization I guess...

I have received an email requesting initial evidence. The email didn't specify what the evidence was for... still waiting for the actual letter.

All we did was put the sealed envelope (containing the medical form/693) and the copy of the *request for initial evidence* letter ( the uscis sent 2 copies of the letter , 1 for our records & the other to accompany the evidence so that it would link up with the AOS file) in a USPS express mail delivery to the mailbox noted on the letter.

So no need for special envelope etc...

we didnt receive an email just the 2 copies of the letter. As for the I-131 we didnt bother file for that as our situation didnt require the need to have it. But we would assume that would also be put on hold till the evidence had been sent.
