Is postponing a visa interview until a later date hard to do?,I am running into some problems and my fiances interview is july 6th in abu dhabi,

1.I'd like to postpone because at present I have no job but will be starting(hopefully)a new good job very soon

2.my fiance is in iran and due to all that has been going on there because of little hitler they have tightend restrictions on a lot of things.

I've tried calling the usa embassy in abu dhabi but I can never get thru,it takes them a week and a half just to answer an email, any vj members have some suggestions,I am really thankful for everyone that has helped me here,I don't know what I'd do without this forum.

Send an email or Fax and request a different date, is usually easy and they have the understadning of peoples problems and schedule

I'm sure you've thought this through carefully but postponing your interview seems like a very bad idea to me, at embassies like India messing around just raises more questions.

1) July 6th is a ways away as long as your taxes look good I would get a job anywhere just so that you have something to write on your affidavit of support. (Which if she has a interview date already it's my understanding that you've already completed this form.)

2) If the "restrictions" that you're talking about are her being not allowed to leave the country then obviously ignore everything I've said and refer to 3.

3) Sit down in a nice comfy chair with a phone that has speakerphone, grab a magazine to read and then just wait, wait, wait until someone answers.

Best of luck to you!

point well taken, but my problem is I have no tax information, the job I am starting is a really good one,but as far as past tax records go it would be somthing 5 years old,I doubt this will be acceptable?

Can you get a co-sponsor? A statement from your new/soon to be job?

well we have a co sponsor but still I'm worried that because of my situation she will be denied

I don't think that they can deny you, they may ask for more info, a quick question, when you filled your Package 3, did you have a Job? did you send any Financial document? if so and you think they are enough, maybe getting a letter from your soon be employer can do it for you, these days many people are loosing their job and you are not the only one. I'm sure they have some understandings.

But if you can postpone your interview to a later date that you have at least few copy paychecks from your new employer, then you can be sure that there wont any problem.

Hey Tony,

don't worry about not having a job or any money. I didn't have any job or money either when I sponsored my husband. You said you have a co-sponser that fulfills the requirement. That should be enough. Just fill out the form, stating that you have no income (with your previous tax returns) and have your co-sponser fill out the form he/she is supposed to fill out (with his/her tax returns or transcripts). Try and get a letter from your new employer as well, stating what your future income will be. Also... the situation in Iran has nothing to do with your relationship. If you have adequate proof that your relationship with your fiance is real and true, then you should have no problem getting the visa. The only time they can really deny you is if you can't prove your relationship is real. How long have you been together? Do you have pictures? Emails? Phone records? Being there together is also a huge plus I think. My husband just had his interview last month, and the thing I found they focused the most on was 1. our relationship (we both answered the questions that were asked with the same answers), 2. pictures of us together (just out, at home, wedding, etc) (you could show pics of you guys together, at your engagement, etc). Do NOT worry. As long as neither one of you is working for the Govt in Iran, you shouldn't have any problems that would relate to the situation over there. If she were coming on a visitors visa, that would be a different story, but she's not. Don't worry. Go ahead with the interview and try and be there with her. Good luck!
