I filed I-751 in mid April. After waiting a month and half without receiving an invitation for fingerprinting appointment I called 1-800 number. They made a service request and promised to get back to me in two weeks. Shortly I got my fingerprinting appointment letter. In two weeks, I get a response to my service request, where they say that I did not show up for my appointment and they made me a different appointment.

THE PROBLEM: The first letter states that the appointment is for I-751 and the second letter states that the appt is for I181 ( WHICH I DID NOT FILE), but the case number is the SAME!!!

I showed both letters to the people in the fingerprinting office and they told me that they will just take fingerprints for both invites, so the USCIS will have no questions to them.

I am worried that they created a confusion with those two invitations. Although, the fact that it has the SAME case number calms me down a bit, I am sill concerned what possible complications it could cause and what should I do to prevent them.

This link, (it is older) has the best explanation on the internal I-181 that I could find: http://www.murthy.com/prnext_1.html

If you are truly worried, you could try an infopass to explain the process better.
