Olivia-- I'm so sorry you had such a miserable experience! If I were you I would read up on all of the meds they gave you and make sure they are necessary, it seems like Egyptian docs like to overdo it with medications sometimes. (An egyptian dentist wanted to give me an IM injection of anti-inflammatory for a toothache... when I was already taking ibuprofen?!) I dunno, that might just be my neurotic nurse-brain, though.

Metformin... man, I do not miss that medication. GI distress like crazy.

Amanda, congrats on the visa being on it's way! I bet you must be feeling sooo relieved :)

Ugh, I am already getting knots in my stomach thinking about Ahmed's interview on Tuesday. He wanted me to call and try to reschedule it for a date when I am there visiting (between July 29-September 18) but I am having a hard time waking up at 3-5am in order to make the call. And we are running out of time quickly... and he doesn't want to make the call himself, for some reason, he says my English is better? I say hey, it's your time zone, it's 1000x more convenient for you, just DO IT already. Anyway, I am not even sure if I would want the interview rescheduled even if we could do it... part of me says just have him go it alone and hopefully he will be approved and we will get on with the AP. The other part says what if he's not approved and my being there would've helped to get him approved? Holy #######, I need some Xanax.

They gave me Kapron Tranexamic acid 500mg and Dolphin-k SR Diclofenac potassium 75mg, then a weight loss thing which Waleed has yet to pick up as the pharmacy at the hospital was out of it, and then there are several others for the birth control and hormones I have yet to start for decreasing the cyst. The Doctor wants me to come back for more visits with a full bladder for the ultra sounds to monitor the cyst to see if it grows or if it decreasing. I think I'll be ok though now that the IUD is out and the bleeding is slowing down a lot. I never bleed so much in my life and last night was scary but really I'm alright and in good hands.

watch out for that "weight loss thing", my husband's sisters doctors put them on some weight loss pill that had them pooping their brains out. apparently THAT was how the weight loss worked :P

OMG Olivia, I am so sorry you had to go through all that. I hope you feel better soon. What did they give you? I am always scared to take medicine there. Sigh...what can you do though? Anyhow, Keep us updated. Hugs.

Aya, I was wondering how the match with Egypt and Italy was going. Also, I know U.S. and Brazil have a match too. Can't wait for results. Anyhow, we have a long journey ahead of us as well. It's all good though, it's in God's hands.

Not sure what the results are yet Sharifah my brothers went out with their buddies to a cafe to watch and will get back to me with the results :) Fiance is originally Italian :)

Awwwwwww Livvie!!!!!!!!!!! You haven't had a very smooth start there have you?

You have had alot to deal with since being there. Thank God you are with your husband and he can take care of you.

This is nice for you to witness early on in your marriage.

I hope you feel better and relieved that you got assistance in time. How do you find the medical treatment there?

Do you have insurance or are you paying out of pocket? It must be scary.(F)

Prayers with you dear.

Amysaid...oh good luck, it is getting near, try to relax, I know it is easier said than done but it will all be fine and a distant memory soon enough.

Amanda I have 3 words for you

THAT WAS EASY

The rest of the pack, take time to enjoy your evening, don't spend too much time in the kitchen either :P

Sorry about your health issues Olivia but I hope you'll be on the mend soon. I have tons of fibroids but I think those are different since the doctors are never too concerned over them.

So........................WE GET TO KEEP THE HOUSE!!!:dance::dance::dance:

Got the call from the mort company today and FHA approved my modification, included what I owed in back pymts and my payment is actually about $200 lower than what it was! Now I can't stop thinking of all the things I've put off like weeding the garden, mowing out back, cleaning up the basement, painting the kitchen! These are all things that would normally make me moan and groan but now I'm PSYCHED to do them! what a relief!!!!!!!!!!:dance:

How do you find the medical treatment there?

I didn't take travelers insurance because I was thinking I'm married to a Doctor I'm taken care of. Since I'm also married to a local and have the contract to prove it I get the Egyptian price. My emergency room visit last night cost 220 L.E. but if they knew I was American and if I wasn't married to a local doctor that price would be multiplied by 20 according to my Husband because American is like a diamond to them and they would just up the price and ripe me off. My service was good. One Doctor picked me up and drove me to the private hospital until my Husband could get there. With my Dr. escort they admited me quickly. I started crying because I was scared and in pain and everyone said don't be scared don't cry like 100 times to me even when Waleed was there. I didn't understand anything anyone was saying unless it was in English. They had to call the GYN Doctor at 3 am to come to the hospital for a consulation. The radiologist doctor was already doing the ultrasound on me when he arrived. The emergency room doctor was staying with me the entire time but the person that took care of me the most was this very young sweet pretty kind female nurse. I guess she got me because she knew some english. I was trasfered by wheelchair from room to room until the procedure was finalized and it was time to go. The doctors all communicated with my Husband rather than me for most of my history so that bothered me a little bit but I'm wondering if that is cultural or if that is because my husband is a doctor. I don't like being left out of the loop of my own patient care even though I was right there and they are talking to my Husband. Egyptians have a bad habit of reverting to arabic for communication when English speaking natives are present and most of them know English.
