Because I dont hate muslims. I just dont agree with alot of things some of the women on here have said. I have more respect for VW and her opinions than some on here. And if I agree with something someone says, then I say so.

There is some irony if you look at those who seem to favor VW/geg's opinions.

When I went to visit he couldn't even tell me where the water glasses were because *gasp* he had never gotten his own glass of water!!!

 what the heck would he do in the middle of the night if he got thirsty, wake up mom?

You're joking, right? Mom doesn't sleep, she has way too much to do!

One of my visits to Morocco I showed up quite late, and was starving since I can't stand the food on the plane. My husband woke up his mom and gave her some frozen chicken and told her to cook it for me. She had this dazed look on her face. When I figured out what he was doing I wanted to smack him...lol I guided her back to bed and made myself a sandwich. I know he was just trying to make me happy, but she is not a slave. I think he has learned a lot since he has been here. If he woke me up to cook I would blow a fuse....lol

As for the fireworks...well they have begun, just as I predicted. :pop:

and?

btw, you possibly can not expect everyone to agree with what others believe regarding muslim women marrying only muslim men. I think its ridiculous to allow men to be so pompous to believe only they have the right to pick and choose who they marry and a woman have no say so. I know of several muslim women that have been on VJ in the past, that have married christian men and have been shunned from their families and now to be shunned by what muslim women on VJ think... absurd.

and if that is true, then IMO that is sooo twisted and screwed up. A woman is married to a man, and the father steps in and separates them from their bond, and basically forces the man to convert or not be with his wife. A religion is between a person and GOD, not for someone else to step in and meddle in.

No shocker you find it twisted and screwed up, but your views on Islam have long been vapid.

 That's usually the only time she makes comments on the Islamic religion. When it's something negative.

 like your feelings are hurt? I called it out like i see it.

Maybe that's the problem...you only see one side of things. You know, I was thinking...why not change your name to TamarahatesMuslims? That would be perfect for you

one of my elder sisters married a Catholic man, before marriage he promised so many things, even agreed that any children would be taught about Islam, they now have two children she has been forbidden to teach them about Islam at all, the only education they receive about Islam is when they visit our home.

he wont even allow the Quran in his home, states they must all be Catholic.

Shame on him.

She already stated her sister converted to the Catholic faith...I can understand extended family wanting to share their religion, sure - but shame on him???? For what exactly? It's a Catholic family...what do you expect them to do?

Shoe on the other foot - a lot of people have been all over the OP for converting to Islam and not playing by the rules. It's the EXACT same thing reversed.

Seriously, just because things are interrpreted in Islam or any religion for that matter doesn't mean everyone has to a) agree with them and B. remain silent if they don't. Back off a little bit and don't get so bent out of shape because someone doesn't agree with you.

Your point is well taken Mrs. Amera - so when someone opines that a portion of your religion is "soooo twisted and screwed up" nobody has to a) agree with them and B) remain silent if that characterization is not appreciated. Direct your peacemaking efforts where they need to be.

disagreement is one thing. insults, along with specious, shoddy arguments are quite another. i'm not christian, or jewish, but i've never told a christian or a jew that their beliefs or the actions of their holy prophets are screwed up and twisted.

you don't see the least bit of hypocrisy in someone decrying the prophet muhammad stepping in and breaking up a marriage, calling it "screwed up and twisted", when the jewish prophet ezra did the same thing in the bible?

is that how you view the prophet ezra, tamara? screwed up and twisted?

Maybe it's in the reading - I read her comment to be the that the situation was as such - not that the person was as such.

My point in all of it is that some people on all sides have a holy than thou complex. As in we're right, you're wrong and I'm not going to listen to anything different. This isn't just in religion or contained to this board, it's all over. A lot of people don't agree with things Tamara says, I am one of them, but that is the same as anyone else. Sometimes you have to just let things roll. This goes for both sides. Maybe what she said was insensitive but it's not the first time something insensitive has been said. I hear Muslims all the time make comments against other religions. Sometimes it's best to let a fire die that stoke it (AGAIN).

I guess I can't read. I had the impression the sister was Muslim and the husband Catholic, and he insisted the children be raised Catholic, denied her her faith, etc.

My bad.
