I've got to ask, because some one has to do it, why are the Philippines so apparently overrepresented on VJ in terms of K-1 beneficiaries? I understand that the country makes up somewhere around 1.37% of the world population, but my sense is that somewhere around 75% of the k-1 beneficiaries on this site are from the Philippines. What gives?

Some are willing to marry American men old enough to be their grandpa just to get out of the Phils.

There I said it!!

Maybe, we can have a Ms. VJ Universe contest. I nominate Mariel Esteban as Ms. Philippines, representing the beautiful islands of the Philippines! Mariel, post your gown and swimsuit photos. Then we will have the interview portion later on :star: Nosebleed na naman tayo nito sa English. Hingi tayo ng translator, allowed naman yun.

Pinay Wife, I imagine you as a more qualified candidate for Ms. Philippines. You are civilized, talented and a sight for sore eyes!

Ms. Colombia,

There are far more websites advertising yourselves and other Latin women to men around the world not particularly among US citizens alone than compared to websites mainly for women of my culture and race. Notwithstanding the Russian agencies. How could your Colombian neurotransmitter come up with such a ridiculous suggestion as to limit K1 visas on women coming from my country when every woman in the world has an equal chance of meeting foreign men? Oh, now I can understand your train of thoughts. Your Colombian cranium must be dulled with the poppies from Medellin?

Ah Ms. Colombia, I am a Filipina and I have toured the world. Colombia is one part of which. We do not need to marry foreign nationals in order to tour the world Miss Colombia. And most certainly, we do not need foreign nationals to marry to achieve our goals in life.

However, it does seem to suggest fairly clearly that men need Filipinas in their lives. Or am I mistaken? Your initial question is in fact an answer. Oh my. Eating one's cake as well. SIGH. Statistically, I could turn the sheet for you. US Citizens take more than 50% of applications for K1 visas mainly for Filipinas. After all, the men hunted us. Now didn't you guys? I have not even started discussing issues of proximity between US and Colombia as against US and the Pearl of the Orient Seas...

HA HA HA

Don't blame men. You know they don't think with the head on their shoulders. Usually it is some other body part that's in control. Maybe some Phillipino women don't need foreign men to give them their desired standard of living, but please don't tell me that doesn't happen QUITE frequently. You would only be fooling yourself. Just look at some of the pics on this site of young ,attractive Phillipinos with old, fat, ugly men. I guess you think love really IS blind.

Don't be BITTER. Be BETTER!

Voice of experience about a man and his #######?

Sounds like your man pwned you!

I think it is funny how offended people get when the truth is spit out. If you aren't the fat, old ugly man that the teenage Phillipino with braces married then don't get your panties in a bunch. But if you are then I don't see how you can be offended. And yes, it does kind of tick all the other women off when the Phillipinos get on here and brag about how wonderful they are. My husband woudn't have ever considered marrying one so that's all that matters to me.

Wow....how did I miss this thread? Oh yeah.. too much time in OT.

These are factors that play a part, IMO:

1. The Philippines is the largest English speaking country in all of Asia.

2. The PI used to be a U.S. territory, played a key role in WWII, and until fairly recently has U.S. military bases.

3. The PI is a poor country and their greatest export is their people. There are more nurses working around the world that Filipina than any other nationality. Many Filipinos search for work abroad. My wife's oldest sister, her Filipino husband is a trucker in Canada and has been there now for about 3 years, while his wife and children have been staying back in the PI. She also has two older sisters who work as RN's in Ireland.

Beyond that, yes, there are dating sites that have women from different places in the world and most probably because of the PI's close ties with the U.S., more K-1's are approved but they also have one of the highest denial rates. If there are guys who have met their spouses through an international dating site, so what? For those guys that are looking, sharing a common language where they can communicate plays a big part.

Betsy you have a point & I defended you, but at the same time I think you could use a little more tact in making your point. When my Filipino wife and I saw a young, pretty Filipino with grandpa or a fatty we joked about it to each other, but if they are happy with each other then what's the harm in it?

You are right there is no harm in it for me. I just get sick of reading these posts about how SUPERIOR Phillipino brides are. And as you said, you have seen exactly what I am talking about. Any of you that haven't need to check out some of the pics. They speak for themselves.

Betsy, with all due respect - have you also seen the photos of MENA couples? Do you see where I'm going here? You can judge people's relationships based on the photos all you want, but do you really want to speak what goes on in your mind about it? In other words, don't judge a book by it's cover and remember the Golden Rule. :) Best wishes in the success of your international marriage. (F)
