I have done a lot of reading on this forum and other sites on the internet. I have seen a lot of information on what to take to the interview to show a bonafide marriage. What have people sent with their I-130 application? We do have a joint American bank account and have a letter from the bank. Do I send pictures or proof of visits with plane tickets and gas receipts or is it better just to send affidavits.

You would want to show you two have a "shared" life together - so you can show a bonafide marriage.

Plane tickets/gas receipts will not really do this.

Joint bank accounts, shared credit cards, mortgages/leases with both names, people who know you and the marriage can write affidavit, this type of evidence shows this.

Pictures are good - but get plenty of the above

My Advice is usually based on "Worst Case Scenario" and what is written in the rules/laws/instructions. That is the way I roll... -Protect your Status - file before your I-94 expires.

Unless you've lived together, some pictures and evidence of time spent together is all that's really needed. Few newlyweds living in separate countries can produce meaningful affidavits and they aren't really necessary. What does anybody know about your relationship if they only attended a ceremony or a party? The optional list of suggested additions really applies to those filing I-130's to adjust status or are otherwise not newlyweds. By definition anything that appears after the words "in addition to the required...." is simply "not required".

Facts are cheap...knowing how to use them is precious...

I didn't have any of that stuff because, as pushbrk said, it's hard for newlyweds to have established any of that yet.

We just sent in about 20 photos from the wedding, vacations, etc. That was enough at the petition stage. For the interview part we're planning on having some more photos and chat logs and proof of our trips together.

Thank you for your responses everyone. I included pictures of the wedding and a trip we had in Salt Lake. We are also including a letter from the bank that testifies we have a joint account. I sent the package of paper work to my US husband yesterday. It should get to his address on Thursday next week so our filing date for the I-130 will be Friday, June 26, 2009. Yea!!

I love being a Canadian.

we sent in a few pics from the wedding, a few pics of daily life as we were living together and i filed the I-130 just 2-3 months after our wedding.

a joint account bank statement

a letter from my mother in law stating she owns the house and as her son and daughter in law we are living with her thus there is no lease or mortgage agreement

greeting cards copies from friends and relatives that attended the wedding.

i doubt gas reciepts or plane tickets prove bonafide marriage

you might wanna use something proving 'true love'
