as part of the tourist visa application i see that many people are talking about showing a round trip plane ticket as proof of returning to thier original country. are you purchasing the plane ticket before getting visa approval? this seems a bit crazy to me.

how did you handle the plane ticket issue? when did you buy it?

what did you show as proof the tourist would return to thier country?

Most people need to show the ability to purchase a round trip ticket when trying to convince the embassy to grant you the visa.

Mostly for the embassy, at that point, they would be looking for home ownership/lease, current job, family, etc...

However, if you get the visa, you will need to show CBP at the US POE you have strong ties, and again, one of them is a two way ticket.

My Advice is usually based on "Worst Case Scenario" and what is written in the rules/laws/instructions. That is the way I roll... -Protect your Status - file before your I-94 expires.
