I received the notice for my biometrics appointment scheduled for July 3, which is a 2009 federal holiday. Are the ASCs really open on federal holidays or is this some kind of a computer-generated notice glitch / mistake? If the latter, whom should I contact to sort it out? Thanks.

they would send u another notice if they dont work that day...this happened to me too...and i got another letter without contacting them..but u could call your local office and ask about it...or the USCIS...

Thank you for your advice! I haven't been able to find a phone number for the local office (other than the main USCIS 1-800 number). I will follow your suggestion and wait a little while longer to see if I get another notice and if not, I might try to go there earlier than the appointment. Thanks again!

Apparently so. I looked up the official list of 2009 federal holidays on opm.gov (the federal government's Office of Personnel Management). There it states that since July 4 falls on Saturday this year, July 3 will be treated as holiday.
