is this normal?

I finally sent out my fiancee's I-129F petition and I checked mailing website to see if it had been delivered and this is what it says:

"We attempted to deliver your item at 10:47 am on July 03, 2006 in MESQUITE, TX 75185 and a notice was left. A second delivery attempt will be made. If unsuccessful, we will hold it for five business days and then it will be returned to the sender. Information, if available, is updated every evening. Please check again later.

"

I'm assuming they sign for these in batches, that's why it doesn't get delivered the first time? Is this normal?

Also, once they receive it, I will receive notification and I'm assuming my case number is on the notice? Is this when I sign up on the website to check the status of my petition?

Thanks for all your help...I've learned a lot from this site. I am currently visiting my fiancee and I put together a bullet-proof package that was tabbed with tons of evidence/photos/receipts

Yes, on your NOA1 will be your case number than you can use to sign up to the online case tracker

same thing happened to me... it will get delivered and what i have done is waive the signature so it doesnt get sent back .. you can track and confirm with the tracking number... also when they receive your ! -129 they will send u a paper in 1 to 2 weeks and that will be your NOA 1 and that will give you a receipt number. once you have that you can check on your status at the ucsis site.... hope this helps
