A house keeper - no question - cooking is easy and while there are things I don't like about gardening (bugs, weeds, hehehe) I can have fun in the garden. Cleaning house is a boring chore no matter what so I would be happy to have someone else do that - except laundry, I'd still do laundry, that doesn't seem to be a problem for me.

“...Isn't it splendid to think of all the things there are to find out about? It just makes me feel glad to be alive--it's such an interesting world. It wouldn't be half so interesting if we knew all about everything, would it? There'd be no scope for imagination then, would there?”

A housekeeper for me! While a chef sounds nice, I like control over my meals as I can be picky somewhat. I just don't like the thought of someone else handling my food every day! Plus, I do enjoy grocery shopping.

I chose the personal assistant! But only because I'm in the midst of filing for removal of conditions and you said they would do that for me. Plus I HATE paying bills. I have a strong attachment to my money and I don't like giving it away.

  • Cooking.... I love to cook, so that's out.
  • Housekeeping.... well, there's really not that much of a mess to clean with only two of us. Would be a totally different story if I worked outside the home, though.
  • Nanny.... no kiddies so no need.
  • Chauffeur.... I like to drive so don't want one of those. Plus, they'd probably quit because I'd be telling them how to drive.
  • Gardener.... we already have lawn maintenance people. Plus that's man's work. But I would love someone to come and redo my landscaping!

A Housekeeper for sure! I hate doing laundry and cleaning!

I didn't pick personal assistant because I am too much of a control freak to let someone else pay my bills and do the immigration paperwork, I would want it done right, no mistakes!

A chef would also be nice too! But again I like cooking, I just need more practice. Only if I could pick out the meals. Haha knowing my fiance it would be pepperoni pizza 3 times a week!

Oh please can I have a housekeeper once a week for 3 hours? I have been cleaning house for others for years to pay for all the extra travelling I have been doing, so to have the luxury of someone to come and clean for me would be wonderful. Hmmm, maybe this is like the Lotto 649 - we can dream :)

Gardener- I need someone to pull the weeds in my vegetable garden and I need him to keep track of those stupid animals under the ground who have been eating the roots of my plants.

Hi Everyone,

What an interesting question and general poll, Trailmix!

Someone to help in our home....let's see....

To tell you the truth, we don't need any of those hired help listed, as we both get all those chores done (for free), mostly enjoy doing those chores, and can overall do all of these chores adequately without any extra help needed.

But...If we both had to choose one to hire:

My (Ant's) Vote: Housekeeper. Cleaning is boring, and the chore I dislike the most. To a certain extent I see it as pointless, as it gets dirty again before you know it anyways, reagardless of how many times it is cleaned. Oh well, at least I try to do that as best as I can here (not easy to do while pregnant either). I'm really what one would call an "organized mess", where I know where everything is, in somewhat disorganized piles/bins/boxes/shelves/etc., but nobody else does. And when someone else clean those piles, reagardless of who it is, I sometimes end up saying "Gee, why did you have to clean up? I don't know where anything is anymore since you cleaned up!"

My (D's) Husband's Vote: Gardener. While he likes the outdoors and being in nature, unfortunately, he burns too easily in the sun (lol...we always have to stock up on sunscreen). Lol...I wonder what we will do when we move to our house soon and have more private property to help maintain (2 acres)....lol...Oh what a challenge that will be!

Hmmm....Maybe my husband can continue to help me with the housekeeping (as he enjoys cleaning and organizing more than I do), and I can continue to help him with the gardening (as I enjoy gardening more than he does)....Sure would save a lot of money there! And yes, it's more fun to do chores together, then to hire someone to do them for us! Chores=Couples bonding time..lol...

Ok..Now it's your turn...who would you hire?

Ant (Housekeeper and Garderner needed....???)

Definitely a housekeeper!!! If I had that, then I wouldn't need a nanny or a chef because I could truly devote myself to cooking and spending time with my baby without worrying about mopping the kitchen floor or vacuuming.

Same! I like to cook a lot and I don't mind taking care of children, especially if they were my own. Since I live in NYC, we definitely don't need a gardener!! We plan to live in a condo to avoid any of that, lol. And, I'd never need a chauffeur since we live right by the train and there are plenty of cabs!

yep..house keeper probably...but also wouldn't mind the gardener. I think a housekeeper would be ideal only a couple days a week..or less. Just for all that "deep" cleaning I don't like to do..

A gardener to start me off by landscaping, and styling my flower beds and such, but after that...I could take care of it...
