Finally, I got interviewed today for my greencard. Had to wait for over 2 years, pheeew!! These guys are real slow & dumb!!! Interview was pretty straight forward. The lady didn't ask many questions. I had googled about other people's interviews and they had posted a lot of stuff but nothing of that sort happened. I guess if you have a legitimate wedding then its a quick and straight forward interview.

I was fully prepared, had three files with documents and pictures. Lady just asked me about : (1) My port of entry/date of entry (2) My arrest record :( which unfortunately happened once (3) When/how did we meet for the first time (4) What were the events after you met for the first time. And that was it. After looking at the documents and pictures she said everything looks good to me. And have scheduled a biometerics appointment for me. Although I had been finger printed 7 months ago but it's USCIS and they have no brains (atleast when it comes to my case), had no record about my biometerics so have to go again. [FYI: Biometerics are valid for 15 months]

I am glad that I don't have to go to USCIS or any other local office after this biometeric appointment, relieved...ahhh!

I had applied for I-485 in June 2007 and had to go through way too many hurdles and I believe I can consider myself nearly an immigration attorney :D

Most important thing to do for all aspiring greencard applicants:

Please keep all the information (also record date and the name of the person you speak with at the USCIS over the phone or in-person, it would definately help you at some point of time) and click lots of pictures with your spouse so that there aren't any hurdles during the interview. One last thing, please don't change the address until you get your card. Incase you do, then make sure USCIS changes the address in their central database. Call them multiple times and ask whether changes have been made. These guys don't care, you have to watch your own back.

Thanks for sharing!

My Advice is usually based on "Worst Case Scenario" and what is written in the rules/laws/instructions. That is the way I roll... -Protect your Status - file before your I-94 expires.

WARNING: Phrases in this post may sound meaner than they were intended to be. Read the Adjudicator's Field Manual from USCIS

Probably your arrest may have triggered an extended background check.
