Ask your dermatologist to give you a prescription for Retin-A Micro or Duac Topical Gel.

Retin-A definitely works and as a side-effect also reduces your wrinkles :star:

It's pretty rough though - other side-effects include irritation and flaking (the latter of course is the

expected side-effect of increased skin cell turnover.)

Duac is more mild - might work better for you.

Both are quite pricey - $75-150 for a small tube.

@natty: i haven't been breaking up for a long time, since i started to be serious about using benzoyl peroxide. what i want is to find something to treat my other skin issues without interfering with my acne treatment.

@mawilsom: way too expensive.

it might be time to visit the dermatologist.

if there are any pharmacological solutions you'll need to review them for Ben's sake.

Nessa,

I highly recommend the new Biore line - Skin preservation - it is tailored for those of us who still get some breakouts and the fine lines are just beginning (I'm turning 30 in September). http://www.biore.com/usa/products/skinPreservation.asp

The eye cream which you put in the morning before the daily moisturizer with SPF 30 does miracles! I used to have visible fine lines and they are all gone now - the skin around my eyes is so smooth and soft, I love it.

I have a visible T zone and makeup would just "melt" after couple of hours and even the rice sheets did not manage to get rid of it. I recently switched to those Bare Escentuals mineral make up (again with SPF 15 in it) and have started to notice a difference - T zone not as cakey as it used to be, skin has started to improve and I no longer feel like I am wearing a mask on my face. Look into the mineral make up - I bought the starter kit in Ulta for around $60-70 but it did come with all the brushes you need so it was well worth the money.

My problem nowadays is that I see a lot of wrinkles under my eyes, dark circles and uneven skin tone. I avoid buying products because I'm afraid it'll give me more acne.

Nessa...

my daughter even tho she is young.. has skin trouble.. we visited both the MAC counter at Nordstrom and Sophora.

I have to say I was impressed with Sophora. They didnt pressure you .. did your face let you try on.

What I did learn is.. .. when applying your foundation and concealer.. use a fat bristle brush. the ladies brush was fat with uneven bristles.. she dabbed the brush in the foundation and applied it to her face. the little bristles filled the little pores and had excellent coverage. Might I add.. that she really didnt use that much foundation either.

When we were at MAC at Nordies.. the makeup artist tended to do what I call BONDO.. meaning like how you say.. thickly applied.. looking madeup..

The Sophora lady knew exactly what foundation.. to use. for the acne prone skin. and what to use to conceal her breakouts without looking madeup.

The foundation she chose for Nikki cost like $40. which I wont pay for.. .. hahah dang I dont pay $40 for myown makeup hahah.. so Nikki is saving for it...

Extremely impressed with Sophora and the knowledge of cosmetics...

If you dont have any cosmetic brushes... I really suggest buying a few. They dont need to be the costly ones like they have there but.. check out the bristles.. and go to your local shop and find comparable...

I never used brushes before.. but.. have since began. my does it make a difference..

51984-medium.jpg Nikki with MAC counter makeup .. got a makeover done for her pagent.. skin looks good and not too bondolooking

Hey Nessa, as VJs makeup resident expert, I would LOOOOOVE to give you a free one time only makeup consultation B)

If your skin is too oily, I think mineral makeup will work the best for you  since it absorbs oils and whatnot. Stila has a very nice foundation primer with SPF that is not oily (most are and it svcks) and on top you can put the powder mineral foundation. With your skintone; I would recommend a bronzer instead of a blush.(the cheapest ones are from WetNWild and they are the shiznit; if you want to splurge go for FX bronzer).

For eye shadows, the cheap and awesome Maybelline or Prestige that you get at the drugstore are super nice; although if you have oily sking the Maybellines or the new Revlon matte might work better. Splurge: definitely MAC eye shadows. Oh oh oh; and underneath the eyeshadows always apply a primer. My fave is Urban Decay potion primer ($17) but you can also get the ULTA one for like 12 bucks. The shadows will stay there until you take them off :)

For skincare, Julia/Squirrel is the to-go girl on VJ.

Email me menina :)

and the next time you say you have midlife crisis, I will b1tchslap you. There, I said it.

I think the mineral makeup is great because it doesn't look like you're wearing anything.

I can get away with the cheapo Maybelline powder, but I heard it's not good for oily skin. From what I've read, the best mineral powder for oily skin is Bare Essentials.

 I've heard that too. But a cheap option is the ULTA line -- their stuff is actually quite good.

I am an old hag, so I need more coverage :crying:

Nessa-I am not a Tricare expert by any stretch, but I am pretty sure that if you go to your PCM, you will at least get a referral to a dermotologist who will be able to advise you.\

As for make-up...I have very sensitive skin but I love Bare Essentuals (sp). It's light, it covers, won't clog pores or settle into lines and it looks like you are not wearing any make up at all.

When I was in broascasting ( for a short time), I had to wear loads of make up for the camera so the lights didn't wash me out. It was horrid, but the Clean and Clear range worked best then to get all that ####### off my face followed by Oil of Olay Regenerist moisturizer and nightcream.

Now I use Oil of Olay Regenerist ( the cleanser, toner and moisturizer/Nightcream) and Clarins sunscreen.

Physicians Formula Organic range is good too.

Check with your PCM about your skin and get a referral to a dermo.

IK HOU VAN JOU, MARK

Take a large, almost round, rotating sphere about 8000 miles in diameter, surround it with a murky, viscous atmosphere of gases mixed with water vapor, tilt its axis so it wobbles back and forth with respect to a source of heat and light, freeze it at both ends and roast it in the middle, cover most of its surface with liquid that constantly feeds vapor into the atmosphere as the sphere tosses billions of gallons up and down to the rhythmic pulling of a captive satellite and the sun. Then try to predict the conditions of that atmosphere over a small area within a 5 mile radius for a period of one to five days in advance!

I use Clinique and ALWAYS use an SPF (minimum 15). There is a reason I don't look 36, y'know, and that's due to my hatred of the sun. :P

Clinique do a fabulous under eye moisturiser called "All About Eyes". I use this nightly. It's around $28 for a small pot, but it lasts ages - I've had mine for 4 months and it's only just getting to the bottom.

Never use any acne treatment on the undereye area. This area is really sensitive and the skin much thinner than on the rest of the body. Even if you only use a moisturiser there at night, it's going to help even out wrinkles. Start preventative treatment now, at 30, rather than waiting a few more years. ;)

I don't know what to do about acne as I've been lucky enough to never have it or get spots.

Also, there are some exercises you can do nightly for the eye area. It may sound a little silly, but done every day it can help even out wrinkles. :D
