I would suggest to hang in there and get as much evidence as your want. Since you said, he doesn't want to divorce coz he will get embarrassed at his job as your are his 2nd wife.

If do ask for divorce at this moment he will make life more difficult for you but even preventing or taking away evidence for I-751 from you because to me your husband

seems very controlling and the only way to get control out of his hands is by you becoming a permanent resident.

Once your I-751 is approved and you file for divorce then he will have no choice but to go along with the demand for divorce.

I am not saying/suggesting to evade immigration laws, neither am I saying that your marriage is fake, but what I think is best option for you.

So gather as much as evidence as possible and file for I-751, once I-751 is approved, ask him to do a marriage counseling telling him the only save

to save marriage. If he does do that and things turn out to be fine, great otherwise leave him.
