Hi everyone.

Well, after worrying and stressing, my fiancé in the UK finally got the packet of forms last Friday (30 June). We spent some time online together yesterday, going over what needs to be done, and while (I think) he's managed to fill everything in, there is one part that is confusing, and he emailed me asking for help. This is what he said:

"Step One says to send the forms as soon as possible, but then Step Two you have to sign to say you have got everything ready like had medical examination police certificate and send it back to them so they can set up interview but under the enclosures what you send to them from step 2 it has all the forms you have filled in from step 1. So do i send the step 1 stuff by itself or wait till i have got all the stuff then send it with the step 2 stuff."

I am a little confused myself and need some clearing...does that mean, I send my half of the packet (with my I-134 and I-864 completed forms) before he sends everything off? Or does he wait to get the police certificate and send everything off before I send MY stuff to him? Do I send MY stuff to him or to the embassy in London?

Any help, would be muy apreciado.. :D

I think that they technically want you to fax in the first thing asap and then collect everything they ask for, and then send in the second fax. However, since the sooner you submit the second fax, the sooner you can get an interview date, it might be a good idea to send both faxes in right away, get the interview date, and collect everything while you await the interview. I'm not sure what the wait time for an interview in London is, though, so make sure it isn't like only a few days before you decide to do this.

Send in the forms from packet 3 and also the checklist saying that you have everything you need for the interview, they will then arrange an interview date. Even if you do not have everything that is needed on the checklist i would send it in, then the things that you do need, can start to be gathered together. The police certificate may take the longest to get,so if you dont have it already i would send for it straight away.

Ok... I somewhat understand most of your replies, so maybe that's a good thing. The faxes, however, I don't ever remember being brought up in conversation although I'll ask him (it may be awkward considering that there are World Cup matches on tomorrow but whatever).

My fiancé did send me a message earlier (which wasn't part of the original email) that he sorted out the police certificate today (late Monday in the UK) and that it would take about 40 days to get done. Would that be enough time for me to get all my financial information ready, especially in regard to sponsorship, employment etc, and send it over? Or am I risking it by waiting for the police certificate to arrive and I should just do this within the next 2-3 weeks?

Oh...how come I haven't gotten anything yet from London? Is it just him that's supposed to be getting stuff and he sends it to me...or do I get something also?

Only the UK citizen gets packet 3. You as the USC, need to collect and send over things that will be needed at the interview--Affidavit of Support, employment letter, etc.

FYI... it takes a full 40 days for the police certificate.
