Extension letter vs. Extension sticker for I-751

I was wondering, my wife's green card is going to expire in July, however we have applied for her to get her 10 year Green Card, and we received an extension letter. Today we went to the Texas Department of Public Safety to get my wife a Texas state Identification Card, we presented the person working there her current green card, and 1 year extension letter, however we were told that my wife would need to have a sticker on the back of her green card stating that it has been extended for 1 year. My question is, where do we get this extension sticker, or does it even exist?

Sticker? Is the first time that I hear something like that. Go to the Texas website and see the requirements to get the Texas ID. http://www.txdps.state.tx.us/administratio...equirements.htm

In any case as far as I know is not a sticker in the back of your green card is a passport stamp that is like your extension letter but accepted in more places. To get that you need to schedule an infopass appointment at http://infopass.uscis.gov/ and they will stamp your passport. Maybe they will take your expired GC in "exchange" for the stamp...

Good luck.
