Nope. You need to send the original.

4-26-06 I-129F mailed

9-25-06 Interview: APPROVED!

10-16-06 Flt to US, POE Detroit

11-5-06 Married

7-2-07 Green card received

9-12-08 Filed for divorce

A great marriage is not when the "perfect couple" comes together.

It is when an imperfect couple learns to enjoy their differences.

So what will happen?

I'm guessing this will just hold up your process even longer. They will probably have to send a new RFE to you. It might be best if you had your parents send the RFE to you in Japan (maybe express mail or something), then you could send it express back to USCIS. Good luck. I hope everything works out for you.

So what will happen?

You'll likely get another RFE. Any way the original can be sent to you for you to send back? Might be able to pre-empt another RFE.... just going to cause some confusion.

But it was scanned at high resolution and printed. it doesn't look like a copy.

you sure it has to be the original? It never said it had to be the original

Hopefully for you, they won't notice, but I think you are taking a risk here. Maybe you will be lucky and they won't notice or say anything, but if they do, just be prepared to start waiting again for them to send you a notice or another RFE which could hold you up longer. Hope it works out!

The original was blue... that's what they're expecting back... a copy could be altered... although I have no idea why someone would...

You did the best you could... trust me, I understand the sense of urgency.... Try not to sweat it.

I went back to the post office and it was still in the outbox so I got it back and I'll have my parents fedex the original to me.

Thanks

Good... there's a lot to be said about the little piece of mind one can achieve from this process! Don't take chances if you don't have to... Best wishes for a speedy timeline!!
