Documents to have when travelling with a conditional green card?

Hi,

I am travelling for the first time after getting my Conditional Green Card back to the UK. My problem is that my passport and green card have different names - my passport is still in my maiden name. The trip is a surprise b'day present from my parents so there is no time to renew my passport as the processing is currently at 6 weeks!!!

Can someone advise me if I travel in my maiden name to match my passport but bring my marriage certificate, whether I will get stopped by immigration coming back into the USA?

Thank you so much, it would really put my mind at rest to know that I can travel home with no problems

I think that is fine. When you travel and have since changed your name, but your passport still has your old one, just take marriage certificate or w/e reason as to 'why' you changed your name, if you had your name changed on your SS card or something, that could help, license, but marriage certificate is the 'why' your name was changed, You should be absolutely fine. After all, for people who get married and still have time on their passport 'validation', what is the sense in paying for a new 1 when you dont have to. Marriage certificate is fine.
