We got our approval notice, and then my fiancee got the letter from the embassy in Peru with the interview already scheduled in 3 weeks! Wow, so quick. But now big problem. We requested police records from the Chilean embassy 2 months ago. She lived there for a year while attending University. She called the Chilean embassy today and they indicated those certificates are only being delivered for people that applied in January!! Wow, we need this in less then 3 weeks!

Can anyone help us? Where can we go, can it be done by mail or phone, if she goes to Chile can she get it immediately? How much will they charge? Does she need 2 certs, one from the local police, and another from the federal?

Any help would be greatly appreciated!

We called the Civil registry in Chile today, and they indicated you have to be there in person with a valid ID card. She is willing to fly there to get this certificate, but her ID card is expired (she does not live in Chile). We called the International Police in Chile, and although friendly they indicated that they do not know about police certificates.

It is looking like it is not possible for us to obtain this certificate from Chile. When I look at the Australian immigration site, they have a page that shows all the places to obtain police records for each country. For Chile, they indicate to fill out an Australian immigration form 80, which seems to suggest that this country should be listed as one where you are unable to obtain a police certificate.

Does anyone have any experience with Chile?? I know there are a few people on here from Chile, or have lived in Chile??

My fiance is Cuban but lived in Argentina for many years. He is back in Cuba now. We had to get the Argentine police record. It was VERY hard to get on our own. You have to be inside the country to get it regardless of your status. Also, all of your ID's have to be valid which is were now out of date. Finally, we hired an Argentine lawyer to get the document for us. It took about a week to get it and very costly too. However it was all worth it to complete our fiance packet so we could get our interview date.

Why don't you see if you can hire a lawyer to help you?? Good luck to you!!
