Both of you (Bat & Gary) have a point.. Guano posted a thread that obviously sheds the right in a bad light, but at the same time it is actual news. However you have the other VJers who post stuff that maligns the left. Both are one sided but I guess if you split the difference reality is somewhere in between.

You're probably correct ... Gary used to post threads & comments very similar to what Danno posts now. Gary has toned down his rhetoric quite a bit, so he gets kudos for that, but I have yet to see him be critical of the VJ right (perhaps he has & I missed it).

My silence in those threads speaks volumes. I wouldn't care if Steven posted a few anti-right posts but he goes WAY overboard with the innuendo and outright lies he posts. To associate the right with murderers and to insinuate that the reps don't support the troops is way over the line. Correct me if I am wrong but I haven't seen very many posts from Danno or VW that tries to link the left with murderers or terrorists. If they have then I will denounce those posts right now. All I have seen is posts that criticize policies of the lefts positions. That is OK from either side IMO but Steven is downright mean and dishonest with his linkages.

Gary if the right on VJ merely criticized opposing views I for one wouldn't have a problem with them, but they go way beyond just criticism... stereotyping, rhetoric, labeling & misrepresentation of the truth are the norms. Your assertion is that Guano does the same & you may very well be correct, but believe me it goes both ways.

What Gary and probably a lot of Right Wingers are uncomfortable with, is that there exists within their side of politics, radicals who have their roots in White Supremist groups. It's not a condemnation of all Right Wingers, but why it probably troubles many of them who are not radical is that they were using the same logic to do a guilt by association of Left Wingers.

I'd like to see more leadership by Right Wingers to denounce such talk of revolution and acts of violence, but I detect that a lot of them are sympathetic to the idea of a revolution against our Federal Gov't. I've even heard Gary express so.

The fallacy I think is the idea that social conservatives have exclusive ownership of "the right". They don't.

Nor should they feel somehow responsible to defend "the right" because a few militant extremist nationalists or white supremacists decide to act out their violent impulses based on the flimsiest of premises.
