It would have been nice if some on the right had suggested these reforms when they were in power. However, I don't really care that much one way or another as long as there is some consensus and movement to eliminate this horrible practice.

The discussion about combining bills is a side issue. We agree that it is wrong. What I am addressing is the idea that col batshit is implying that the reps are voting against the troops, which they are not. It is just another example of his totally slanted rep bashing. He should be ashamed of himself for his blatant dishonesty.

Pure bullsh!t, Gary and you know it. The OP makes a solid argument that exposes the hypocrisy of the Republicans in Congress, particularly under the leadership of Boehner. They are the true hacks here. It's a shame you can't take those rose colored glasses off to see the truth.

The only bullshit is the tripe you keep dishing out. Both side are hypocrites but you only see hypocrisy on the side you don't like. IMO your the worst hypocrite of the bunch.

You're projecting, Gary. It's too bad you can't look at this issue without bringing into some kind of broader context of keeping score between the Left and Right. What's ironic is that you most probably joined in on the scorn against the Congressional Democrats who voted against some military spending bills and questioned their patriotism. Now the shoe is only foot and you're upset that a spade is getting called a spade. Deal with it.

I agree with you Gary. It makes no sense to bash one side for behaving badly and ignoring the other side that do the exact same thing.

Sorry Stephen, but while I don't agree with Gary on many things on this I certainly do. It's possible that there are some representatives who would cry wolf no matter what, I don't think by any means they are all that myopic. They are elected to represent their constituency and many honestly do that.

Wow, republicans hate helping impoverished countries more than they love war. :o

We spend more on aid than any other country in the world regardless of which party is in power. Bash away and keep your partisan blinders on.

I'm a Libertarian. I don't believe in foreign aid that either has political or moral strings attached. Back to yours self-righteousness.

You should never be afraid of exposing the truth, Gary.

If a bill has so many different angles, it's impossible to know exactly what part of it is being objected to. That anyone passes a bill with something added on that has absolutely nothing to do with the main thrust of the bill for 'convenience' is absolutely appalling. I can only presume that the excuse for this is some kind of time saving nonsense?

Your hopeless. Who gives a damn what you think anymore? I sure don't. Please carry on with your blind hatred of the right, it suits you.

The United States is an impoverished country. We're up to our ears in debt - our national debt

to GDP ratio is worse than Pakistan's - worse than any country the IMF is supposed to help.

We should stop ALL FOREIGN AID - immediately - until we solve our own problems!

Whoah there, nelly. You're making this way too personal. If you don't want to discuss this thread, then don't post in it, Gary. No need to get feisty.

But that would make us *gasp* Isolationists :o

I do agree with the bolded statement. A government should take care of it's own citizens first. Then and only then should they look to help others.
