Can anyone here tell me if there is a site that provides reviews of services that provide assistance with the K-1 visa process?

I have been looking at some of the sites that advertise here. EasyFianceVisa is one of the sites and their price seems reasonable but I am curious if anyone here has used them and what your experience was like.

Any advice or recommendations would help.

Is there any particular reason to use a service? You can save yourself a lot of time and money by reading the guides here and doing it yourself like most of us have. It seems overwhelming, but actually, it is pretty easy to fill out the required forms and gather the information.

Honestly, none of there prices are reasonable, unless you have extenuating circunstances that only an immigration attorney could address. Almost everybody here on VJ has done this process themselves without hiring anybody and just following the guidelines on this website..for example in your case just go to Guides and follow the K-1 flow chart and save your money. Trust me. You will need it later. Good luck on your Journey. Mike

I agree. If you have a straight forward case with no complications, then you can do it all yourself by following the guides from Visa Journey.

I recommend the Visa Journey Guides for K1 assistance. I am a successful user, and their prices (free) are eminently reasonable. They are the only K1 assistance organization I would use!!

You can go to their website here.

Good luck!

Thank you for the quick responses.

I realize that a lot of people here have done this on their own. I keep looking at the documents and have done a lot of research and feel comfortable that I can do it. For me the service is more of an insurance policy from someone with experience to look at my documents to confirm that I have everything filled out properly and in the proper order. If the service is able to do this I do not think a small fee is unreasonable. I would just like to get feedback on a service if I elect to use one.

My case is straight forward with no problems concerning evidence of a relationship. We have seen each other 5 times since April of last year and I just returned from a 30 day stay. I have already started compiling everything that I need and will make a decision next week on if I will proceed with or without a service.

Again I appreciate the responses to my post.

If yoiu can read English and follow detailed step by step instructions, such at the Guides at the top of this page, you can do it yourself. If you can examine the Example Forms against your own forms, you can ensure by yourself that you have filled them out correctly. If you can type a posting here on VJ with any type of question, then you can do it yourself.

The only feedback that I have seen is from here on VJ and the reviews are all, "This is so easy, I did it by myself. Tnx Visa Journey!!!"

I did it all by myself (am in the middle of the journey) and many others here also and no problems. Spend your money if you want but you may find that the service actually may make things take longer. You will still have to do all the work.

The reason you'll see VJers telling you to do it yourself if your case is straightforward it's 'cus we've seen lots of people come here after paying for an attorney or a service like that who filled out wrong forms, missing information, and ended up causing a lot of delays and stress to them.

The chances of you making a mistake filling the forms is about the same as a stranger entering your information. Unless there's some complications about your case an attorney or visa service won't really be of that much assistance (most will ask you to fill out the forms yourself, and correspondence is sent to you anyway).

The guides here are great and there are a lot of experienced people around to help with any doubts you have concerning the forms and documents every step of the way.

Good luck on your process!

I'm not trying to talk you out of using one of these services if it will give you peace of mind..No I take that back. Yes I am. Also remember that the price they quote you is just to start processing the paperwork. It's not a flat rate. I have seen that website and looked at many of them before I went thru this process and they try to make it sound much more difficult than it actually is. Yes you have to follow the instructions carefully..Yes you have to double and triple check everything before you process it but trust me from what you have described about your situation you don't need their services and as baron555 said you will still end up doing a large majority of the work yourself. Once again Good luck. Mike

There isn't anything you're going to get from the service you cited for your $200 that you can't get here for free. Conversely, there is a LOT you will get here for no charge that you will NOT get from that service, including guidance throughout the ENTIRE visa process, and not just through the USCIS petition process, which is all you'll get from that service.

In addition, you'll get information and advice from this site that are specific to the consulate where your fiancee will interview. This information is priceless, and can make the difference between getting a visa, or dealing with a 212(g) denial and potentially years of appealing and resubmitting your application.

If you insist on spending money on "professional" advice, I recommend you give that money to an attorney who has extensive experience dealing with the consulate in your fiancee's country. You'll get the same document review you get from a visa prep service, but you'll also get advice which will help you and your fiancee deal with the problems which are specific to your case.

If your fiance has had any problems in the past with immigration, entering illegally or over staying the visa, ect. or criminal past, drug or alcohol abuse consulte with an attorney. If there is no problems that could delay or exclude your fiance work with us here. It is alot of work but the way I looked at it you'll need to provide who ever asists you with all the information any way.

A service to have someone look over stuff is a complete waste of money. Either hire a lawyer if it is needed or do it yourself. Find someone you trust either in your real life or on VJ, send them your documents and have them look over it to make sure it's ok. 200$ for proofreading is just silly. I can honestly not think of anything that you could make a mistake on in sending or filling out paperwork (that is HONEST, if you lie, obviously that could lead to a denial) that would result in a denial. Any mistake is met with an RFE going through USCIS and you have plenty of time to research what to do for your respective embassy.

If you do not feel comfortable to DIY, then I would recommend a visa service over an attorney. They are usually far more knowledgeable and can offer services like translations and native speaking people to communicate with your fiancee. Many specialize in "regions" and are very familiar with consulate procedures.

I have to confess to being an attorney, but I 100% disagree. Hire a knowledgable immigration attorney. As soon as they provide any helpful service (i.e. advice on how to best fill in your form) the visa service is skating on the edge of violating the law (and maybe crossing it) by unlawfully engaging in the practice of law without a license. One has to question the ethics of someone who would do that. Once you question their ethics, you have to question the quality of service.

A good immigration attorney will be willing to review your forms (at the hourly rate) and will honestly tell you in a consultation whether she/he thinks you really need to retain them. I tell my clients all the time that I am not a cost effective solution to their small problems because I cost too much. You could even ask the attorney to review your documentation and inform them if you have any red flags.
