The USCIS site has a news regarding this, which is also being discussed all over the forums. They're currently changing the system/equipment that makes the cards and thus they're saying all card production is currently delayed for aproximately 8 weeks.

When was the equiptment's replacement or repair started? I hope they pass a memo among all other institutions about this delay because some of them will not accept a passport stamp nor the welcome letter.

During my GC interview beginning of June (Atlanta Field Office), the CIS Officer mentioned they had been informed of huge production delays of the green cards. He said the delay could be up to five-six months (!). I assume this is worst worst case scenario, but if this is true, then it could take longer than the 8 weeks CIS mentions on its website.
