You keep going on and on about how "people in America" cannot afford treatment, as if all Americans

are unemployed broke-аss deadbeats who ain't got two plugged nickels to their name.

No not ALL Americans but bear in mind insurance premiums are going up three times faster than wages.........millions are already uninsured or under insured, tens of thousands are losing health insurance every day. Don't forget "pre-existing conditions" "co-insurance" and "deductibles".......some policies just aren't worth getting. Those numbers will continue to rise and more will suffer, while the insurance companies will be rubbing their hands in glee with "loadsamoney"

I lived without insurance for awhile and was fine. I don't have insurance through an employer and I can afford it. It really isn't THAT expensive. I figured that out when I actually started to look at insurance plans.

Sorry, I just don't buy the "greed" angle. If more and more people couldn't afford insurance, the

insurance companies would be going bankrupt left and right, and I just don't see that happening.

These companies make money by insuring people - it's in their best interest to insure more,

not fewer, people. Adding one new customer is more cost-effective than jacking the premiums up

20% on 4 existing customers.

well your healthy and your insurance will not be high..

Now take me, with a pre existing condition (diabetes) and they would not touch me with a 10 foot pole. I tried. I had no insurance in the past and it was a risk I took. I did not control my sugars cause I cant afford $90 or so for test strips, which lead me to losing sight in one eye.

I was laid off but just started a new job with medical but it sucks big time. they will pay per RX $75 max. Now I went to my last employer insurance and look how much it is, the Drug store charges the insurance company $724 something like I am sure that is a discount rate. they told me my insulin is $103 per bottle and my rx is for 8 bottles. my old I only paid $30 co pay which was a Flex spending account so I did not pay anything when I picked up.

it covers $15,000 per year for medical.. so if you get in a car crash or have a heart attack, your screwed and tattooed

It is very important to pass federal healthcare. If it does not get passed this year.. we Sh!t of of luck.

private is good with a good employer but if you lose you job, you are screwed.

Doesn't your car insurance include BPIP (Basic Personal Injury Protection)?

In New York, BPIP is *not* optional and pays:

1. Up to $50,000 per person, per accident.

2. Necessary medical, dental, hospital, and rehabilitation expenses.

3. 80% of your lost earning up to a maximum of $2,000 per month for three years.

4. Up to $25 per day for other expenses for a period of one year from the date of the accident causing the injury.

5. An additional death benefit of $2,000 per person.

I also have APIP (Additional Personal Injury Protection), which pays $100,000 with $2,000 work loss

and costs me $2 per month extra, as well as Residual Medical Payments coverage which pays for medical,

surgical, x-ray, dental services, prosthetic devices, ambulance, hospital, and professional nursing and

funeral services incurred within one year from the date of the accident. Residual Medical Payments also

protects you, and relatives residing in your household, if injured while in other vehicles or if injured by a

car while a pedestrian.

With his luck, 99% chance may not be enough. Poor git :)

so true

"The fact that we are here today to debate raising America’s debt limit is a sign of leadership failure. It is a sign that the U.S. Government can’t pay its own bills. It is a sign that we now depend on ongoing financial assistance from foreign countries to finance our Government’s reckless fiscal policies."

Senate Floor Speech on Public Debt
