I know everyone says not to postpone your interview but I really don't have much of a choice at this point, what do I need to do to make sure things will turn out ok? The interview is not until July 21st so I have time

You need to give a lil-bit more info? So you get some kind of answeres on this one!

If you postpone the interview, tell your wife to forget about GC for about 3-4 years.

I am not kidding, this is not like postponing a visit to a doctor's office !.... It is all up to you.

I realize its not a good idea to postpone, but I need help in how to do it, my wife has issues at home she has to take care of and we are leaving in 2 weeks and coming back July 30th

I can not think of anything that could be more important than that, sorry. THIS is your life and death issue.

Well I don't really have a lot of details, but I personally know a friend that postponed her interview more than once and she ended up with a GC and within the timeframe that she wanted (she didn't have to wait 3-4 more years). Obviously you understand that this is very important and I know you wouldn't cancel it unless you had a good reason. So my advice, call USCIS or make an INFOPASS appt you they can tell you how to do it and what the consequences can be. I wouldn't recommend postponing your interview either but I think sometimes people get TOO paranoid. There are other options; it’s just a matter of figuring out what they are....

Good luck :)

Well I think I found a way to delay the interview, I have been using my parents address for everything, but now I am living in Boston so I was going to file for a change of address and that should push us back about a month (I think)

Be very careful about changing anything. You have said that your wife need to return to her home country. If she is going to be using her AP to allow her to re-enter the US then I do have to warn you, IF YOU ARE OUTSIDE THE US AND YOUR APPLICATION TO FOR AOS IS DENIED FOR ANY REASON, THE ADVANCE PAROLE BECOMES VOID. This happened to a friend our mine, they had made an infopass appointment to change their interview, the officer said not a problem and that they would receive a rescheduled appointment in the mail, They were also changing address. My friend went back to the UK because a family member had died on her return to the US they were informed by the officer at immigration that her AP had been cancelled because she had failed to show up for her AOS interview. She was denied entry to the US and was put on the next flight back to the UK. Her husband had to try and sort it all out while she had to stay in the UK. They eventually got it sorted and her AP was reinstated and the AOS interview was rescheduled, but only after paying to have the case re-opened and paying $$$$ for a lawyer to help sort it all out. it took them 5 months to get her back in the US and then another 3 month for a interview.

Little late now, I changed the address this morning but I have a couple of weeks to get things right before I leave, I plan on calling the Benefits center today to ask a few questions.

There is no point in calling the 1-800 miss-information line as all they are is a call center and they are not USCIS officers, they can only see the same information about your case as you can on the USCIS website. What you should do is make a infopass appointment at your local office, infact Boston do allow walk-ins, then you will be able to discuss all of this with a immigration officer.

Just remember that my friend did the same thing and still ended up gett refused entry back into the US. Is there no way you could delay the trip or come back intime for the interview.
