i get my I-797C ,NOA1 today so i tried to find my status online at USCIS website using my receipt number but it's say can't find this status or wrong number . can any one tell me why ?

or maybe they still didn't put it in system

it's the latter.

My Advice is usually based on "Worst Case Scenario" and what is written in the rules/laws/instructions. That is the way I roll... -Protect your Status - file before your I-94 expires.

You'll have to wait for your biometrics letter in order to be able to check your case status online.

Take a look at your NOA; it should state the following: "Upon receipt of your ASC appointment notice, you can find the status of your case on-line at www.uscis.gov. To view the status of your case, enter the application number found at the top of the ASC appointment notice."

Go by the number on your biometrics letter. The number on the NOA1 is not linked to the online update system.

06-22-2009 - Removal of Conditions approved (via USPS)

07-01-2009 - Email from USCIS advising of approval

07-06-2009 - Received 10-yr Permanent Resident Card

02-18-2010 - Eligible to file for naturalization

As many already said wait till you get your biometrics, and then use that number on the receipt to check your status. However, USCIS online status is notorious for giving misinformation.

I just want to add that we were NEVER able to check the online status even using the biometrics case #.

When I called the misinformation line all I got told was that " You cannot check the status online of an I751, the system is not set up for that"... :blink: which I knew was a bunch of bunk as so many check online here. I ended up giving up trying to check it and I only found out we were approved by just deciding to have one last try to check it online after months of not bothering-and bingo the system found our biometrics case # and it said it was approved!
