Just wondering, I tried to look for the answer, but I couldn't find it. I see that some people had their biometrics appointment done in Atlanta, Ga. I live in Swainsboro, Ga, but I had to travel do Charleston, South Carolina, to have mine done. Does anybody know why is that? Where do you think my interview will be?

Thanks!!!!

I also live in Georgia and we had to go to Jacksonville Florida for biometrics. I am presuming that our interview will take place in Atlanta. Guess we shall just have to wait and see.

Hmm...never noticed this before but then again I never looked.

If you go to USCIS.gov and click for your District Office (where you will be interviewed) the sub-offices are not necessarily listed. For Georgia there are NO sub-office listings.

PS - sub offices do services like infopass, fingerprinting etc. No interviews are done at sub-offices.

For example, our district office is Pittsburgh PA but Charleston WV acts as one of the sub-offices for Pittsburgh. But if you click on Pittsburgh PA, the Charleston sub-office is not specifically listed.

There are also Application Support Centers, but I don't think they are clearly listed either.

At any rate, just go where you are told and everything should sort itself eventually! LOL

My district office was Oklahoma City, but my biometrics for AOS were done at an ASC in Wichita, Kansas. They told me Wichita were doing fingerprinting for Oklahoma City at that time as a favour to help reduce the backlog. In the long run, it did help me in getting my AOS interview quicker, but at the time it was a major pain in the butt to drive all the way there.

As the crow flies, Charleston is actually closer to Swainsboro than ATL (esp since the center is on the nw side of atl).

Hmmm. Wish they would've made us go to Charleston for the biometrics, would've been a heck of a lot more fun in the summertime than dealing with atl $#%(. Charleston's a nice place to visit if you don't live there. :-)

ASC's are different that District Offices. You can actually get your fingerprinting done at any ASC in the US and it will have no bearing on where the interview will be held. For ASC's they schedule you to the closest ASC to your place of residence. If Charleston, SC or Jacksonville, FL is closer to you than Atlanta is, you'll go there. However, if you live anywhere in Georgia, your AOS interview will be in Atlanta.

Oh dear, I'm confused now. Can someone possibly help me figure out what office I would be going to? I know Atlanta will be our interview place but what about fingerprints? I'm in Huntsville, AL.

For fingerprinting, you will be sent to the ASC that is nearest to your place of residence...which would probably be the Birmingham, AL ASC.

rebeccajo,

Not true - Sub Offices do the same things that District Offices do. (There are also such things as satellite offices that provide more limited services than DOs and SOs.)

As zyggy explained, it's Application Support Centers that do fingerprinting and biometrics, not DOs or SOs, although sometimes ASCs are co-located with a DO or SO.

And your District Office is Philadelphia, not Pittsburg. Pittsburg is a Sub Office of Philadelphia. Charleston WV is also a Sub Office of Philadelphia.

I sure hope so. I'd be really unhappy to have to drive to Atlanta (or someone more than a couple hours away) twice! Especially if it requires overnight stays.
