My opinion is backed by the fact that I have been an owner of a small restaurant for the past 9 years and I see it happening in REAL TIME.

I believe that. I like how people claim that don't eat in chain restaurants but somebody is keeping them in business.

We end up going to chain restaurants a lot of times (Chili's, Claim Jumper), but it isn't because of price but because of familiarity. There's a little hole in the wall Mexican food place just down the street from my office, Pepe's Tacos. The prices are actually a bit cheaper than Baja Fresh and so much more tastier, but the food takes longer because there's only one guy working in the kitchen.
