Do I need the Biometrics letter to go for the appointment?

When I filed my VAWA, I used a mailbox service on account of the fear I had that my husband (we're now separated) could intercept my mail. When I filed for AOS, I used my home address because that's what the instructions said. Now my question is this, I suspect that he has been taking my mail (along with his) since the separation. I haven't gotten my credit card bills but I pay the bills online so that's not an issue.

The issue is the immigration correspondence. I should have received my biometrics letter by now. The reason I say this is that I have similar timelines with 3 of you and according to those timelines, I should have received my biometrics letter between the 8th and the 11th. But I haven't. Now, two things may have happened: either the mail service is slow OR my ex has it. If I assume that my ex somehow has it, what can I do? Do I call USCIS and request a new letter? Should I walk in for biometrics with my NOA but no biometrics letter? Schedule an INFOPASS?

First of, sorry about your situation.

You can not go to Biometrics without an Appointment Letter.

Best thing for you to do is to call NBC to ask to mail Bio App. letter directly to your new address.

Also go to the post office where you used to live with your ex, and make an address change immediately.

This is the most important thing, because if you even try to change your address within USCIS system. they still

won't update your address & will def. continue to mail everything to you ex's residence.

GOOD LUCK !......

Hi Ghanamade! I filed on May 28th and got my NOAs promptly (on June 5th dated June 3rd). I will be changing my address online shortly and then I'm calling USCIS regarding a new biometrics letter. How do I add my timeline on my signature?

Hi Eva, I hope that by now you have received your biometrics leter and everything is going smoothly on your end. I just have a question, if you don't mind. When you filed your I-360, did you apply for AOS and EAD also? What happened to me was 15 months after I filed I-360, I applied for AOS and EAD, because in my research, it said that one can file I-360 and apply for AOS and EAC at the same time. I received my EAD yesterday but my I-360 is still pending and I have yet to finish gathering documents for RFE. I'm happy that with my EAD I can renew my driver's license and get another job. I'm so broke, no help at all, afraid that my husband will do something. My divorce is almost final, he's been quiet, I'm glad for that. I hope he finds someone that he can love and respect, if not someone who can fight back.

And I hope, for all of us here, that we will see the light at the end of the tunnel.

No I didn't. I wish I had. That's my one regret. I wish I had sent my AOS with my I-360. I could have saved $1010 AND avoided so much delays. I need the Advance Parole document like NOW!! But I trust that God has a plan for me. He works in mysterious ways. I haven't started divorce proceedings yet.

Hi, you mean if I had filed I-360, AOS and EAD at the same time, I did not have to pay $1010 because they waived the application fee for the self-petition?

You are so right, God works in mysterious ways, He does have a plan for us. I hope good news will keep coming.

I FINALLY got the physical RFE in the mail this morning and it was for the I-864W. Fortunately, I was prepared for that and I had it filled out and ready to go. I just mailed it using Express mail and it should get there on Wednesday. I suppose this makes me officially a June filer. I am pissed off about the 2 weeks delay because I need to travel to Canada on Aug 8th and I need the advance parole document. I will wait two weeks and then request an expedited AP. Or I could just cross the border (without inspection) to Canada! (yes, I'm that desperate).

the problem is not going to Canada... If you depart without AP, how will you return?

YMMV
