original certifiied copy of Record of Marriage needed for AOS package?

For my AOS package, is the original certified copy of Record of Marriage needed for submission or will the photocopy of the certified copy be enough? I do want to keep the original certified copy as it costs $26 each. And I, the beneficiary, is the one filing, not my husband for me.

Only send photo copies of important documents because you may never get them back. They are totally acceptable.

Curious. Which state (and county) did you get married in? We got married in Orlando, Florida and it only costs $2.50 for a certified (also called original copy) so we got 3 for an additional five dollars.

But for AOS just send a copy and carry the original to the interview. Good Luck

Seriously? That price is RIDICULOUS. We paid $1 for each certified copy. Are you sure you're asking for the right thing? You don't need a true new marriage license, but a certified copy, which for us was basically just a notarized print-out, not a real license. I'd check with them again.

True; ours were $7 each in a suburban Houston-area county. We ordered 7 copies (produced while we waited) and were quite glad later that we had so many.

It is $26 in Phoenix, AZ.. I did think it was too much. It was just a photocopy of the Record of Marriage with certification seal that it's a true copy. I definitely wouldnt like to submit it... so precious..

We submitted a certified copy because we asked for (bought) an extra at the time but many people submit a plain copy and do just fine.

If I remembered it correctly, I only sent a plain copy of my marriage certificate on my AOS package
