Debating is my speciality!!!

What you are offering is not a debate, but an very uneducated opinion. Do you how many criminals in Canada try to hop the border each year to escape capture? We are all human beings, regardless of whether we are from Canada or not. There are TONS of people in Canada that probably marry someone in the US who may have to go on government assistant when they immigrate. We are not special because we happen to live right above the US. I think that is just pure ignorance.

And believe me, there is nothing you can say to offend me. As this form goes, I'm probably one of the most outspoken people on it and I really don't have much of a filter so...you aren't offending me, but what you are saying is ignorant.

"...My hair's mostly wind,

My eyes filled with grit

My skin's white then brown

My lips chapped and split

I've lain on the prairie and heard grasses sigh

I've stared at the vast open bowl of the sky

I've seen all the castles and faces in clouds

My home is the prairie and for that I am proud…

If You're not from the Prairie, you can't know my soul

You don't know our blizzards; you've not fought our cold

You can't know my mind, nor ever my heart

Unless deep within you there's somehow a part…

A part of these things that I've said that I know,

The wind, sky and earth, the storms and the snow.

Best say that you have - and then we'll be one,

For we will have shared that same blazing sun." - David Bouchard

You bet most people will take offense to your assumption that being Canadian makes you somehow more valuable than other folks going through the family immigration process. Enough said, right back at you. ;)

eh? You don't even make sense. It's like me saying that Asian people should have preferential treatment in the immigration process because they are more intelligent than other groups of people in the world. Do you understand how that is a prejudice?

I don't think you do and that's sad. It really is. You know why? Because you aren't speaking for any one here but yourself, and certainly not for your nationality either. No one is going to agree with you on this one, no matter what you say, because even from a FACTS point of view, you are still completely wrong. There are plenty of people in Canada on government assistance, and plenty of them will meet an American and want to immigrate to the US. Not every one comes from a middle class family in Canada. Not every one is well off.

I am in NO way saying that any country should get fast-tracked through the system, but do keep in mind that folks from Canada already have preferential treatment in the way their "automatic" visitor visa works. There are all types of specialized laws to all parts of America, whether we're talking visitor visas or celebrity justice or whatever. I remember for the Winter Olympics the Canadian skater was moved ahead of a ton of people so that she'd have her status here and be eligible to skate for the US Olympic Team, and I also remember being uber angry about that as well.

I'm not supporting the actual agrument but just showing that there is preferential treatment given all the time. I even remember when Efgeni Malkin got a visa to play for the Penguins in a matter of weeks and I can guarantee that doesn't happen for most people.

I also won't even get started on the horrors of welfare or anything like that as I currently know a 25 year old girl that quit her job 8 months ago and is making enough money through unemployment to afford a house and brag to people about how she has time off

My wife has been back since June 5, 2007. Now we're just livin' man, L I V I N :)

True, but that's working visas which is a whole other ball game. Celebrities and athletes get visas really quickly, yes but nothing to do with family immigration.

It is not about being uppity or holier than anyone, the US already allows cdns to go to the US wo applying for a visa or waiver or any sort of permission, so why not fast track our immigration process for family based applications just the same way they do for military based?

Your comparing apples to oranges, I am using Canada as a whole country not based on race.

Uh yes and allowing certain countries to visit with just a passport VS applying for a VISA is what, uh fair.......

Very very true, but I'd have a tough time if two officials came to me and tried to explain to me that someone deserves to move before me due to a job rather than having a family together. I know what you're talking about but just another quirk I disagree with in terms of the immigration process :)

Are you really asking that question? Have you not read what everyone has told you, in response to your question? Why are you asking it again?

For someone who claims debating is their specialty you are absolutely horrible at it!

What you are suggesting is that the government speed up family immigration for Canadians because you don't feel that we are in it to commit fraud or milk the system? How is that fair? Could you explain where you get this idea please?

Why is it fair for us, as Canadians to have a speedy visa process and someone from let's say Monaco to have to be tied up in bureaucracy, because they may commit fraud, commit crime or just be in for the wrong reasons? Not all Canadians have pure intentions unfortunately. I know you'd probably like to think our ####### don't stink, but it does.

Ditto. Besides, there are many other countries who also participate in the Visa Waiver Program just like Canada does; and that does not grant them any special or preferential treatment -and it should not.
