I'm hoping they will tell us soon about Maryanne because they aren't moving it along very quickly. If it was a show that has twenty plus eps for the season I wouldn't be too concerned but with only 13....

I imagine that Lafayette will make a very good vamp if that's the way they decide to go with it. I'd much rather have him be that than dead.

Lately? I've always liked vampire books and movies for the most part. I like horror in general. A lot. That's how my husband and I met, on a horror movie message board.

Vampires have always been a fairly well loved horror staple. Maybe it's just more noticeable now since Twilight and True Blood are both really popular at the moment.

you may not but I have friends that all of the sudden have become the vampire freak kind of fan. They read, watch and research everything about vampires, all because of that book/movie Twilight. :P

Oh no! Not because of Twilight. Anything but that. Maybe it's a good thing in disguise and they'll discover the good vampire books and movies because of it.

Actually I must admit that I did watch Twilight. It's not a good movie or anything, pretty silly really, but it wasn't as bad as I thought it would be either. Mark keeps threatening to buy it on Blu-ray for me.

Yep. I went to HBO's website and was looking over screenshots of Maryann and my hunch is that she is a mythological goddess, perhaps Greek.

When the three vampires sank their teeth into Lafayette, I was thinking, why don't they wash him up first?

They don't have to worry about bacterial infections.

Metaphor....the same reason superheroes are also really popular.

Still...he must of tasted nasty, and they seem to keep themselves groomed.

A goddess. That's a little more ambitious than what I would have thought they'd do in that show. She's gotta be something pretty powerful though after watching that scene from Merlotte's in the last ep.

He was pretty damn grimy and you'd think that someone like Eric, who was so miffed earlier about this highlight job gone wrong, would've had him cleaned up first.

Bah - Buffy was better. They knew how to make a good drama and weren't too full of themselves to know how ridiculous the premise was.

I agree. Buffy was better (and Angel better still) but I still think True Blood is a good show. It's a little different take on vampires, which I'm enjoying. I've never gotten the impression that this show takes itself that seriously, with the exception maybe of the Sookie/Bill love storyline. In the pilot, I thought it looked like Alan Ball probably had a blast making that.

i completely agree with you...i don't think the show takes itself very seriously at all and that's why it can house such over the top characters. I love the show because of the fact that it is almost campy.

Check out this screenshot...

...but then with the last name...maybe she is a wood nymph? If she is, then why doesn't she live in the woods...or maybe she does and that mansion is just place for guests? Hmmm...lots to speculate.

Remember that woman found dead with her heart taken out...lived in the woods. hmmmm..
