Civil surgeon question

Hi,

My fiancee (beneficiary) is coming to America next month. We are still very early in the the whole process. Basically, I was wondering that if when she came here if she was able to allowed to go to an American Civil Surgeon. From what I have read it can be difficult to see the Civil Surgeon in Moscow to make appointments with them. There are about 5 in my area, So I was just thinking it may be easier for her just to while she was here. I'm just not sure how long the validity of the exam is good for. Thanks in advance for any help.

Are you talking about the Medical Examination for the interview? If so, the embassy/consulate has a list of doctors that have some sort of agreement with the embassy. Unfortunately you can't just go to any doctor, I'm sure everyone would prefer having an appointment with their own doctors, the ones they are comfortable with. In my case, I will have to go to another city here in Brazil to have the Medical Examination done for the interview because there are no doctors designated by the consulate where I live.

I'm not sure if you can have that Examination performed by doctors in America, let's see if someone else here on VJ knows anything about it. Good luck on your journey!

Yes the med exam needs to be performed by a U.S. Civil Surgeon. I was just wondering if it had to be done in the beneficiaries country or if it may be done here and the length of validity of the exam. There are about 5 U.S. Civil Surgeons in my area. I was just thinking this would be easier then having o pay for very expensive hotels in Moscow.

She will need to get it done at one of the two approved clinics in Moscow (or at the approved clinic in Vladivostok). It can be done the day before the interview in Moscow as one of the clinics gives same day results. It's not difficult to get an appointment at the clinic, just have to call. You won't be able to get it done in the US.
