I filed a k1 I-129F fiance visa petition, and I have a question about a certain question on the I-134 Affidavit of Support form. I also have a so-sponsor. No. 11 question asked...

"I ( ) intend ( ) do not intend to make specific contributions to the support og the person(s) named in item 3.

(If you check 'intend' indicate the exact nature and duration of the contribution. For example, if you intend to furnish room and board, state fo rhow long, and, if money, state the amount in U.S. dollars and whether it is to be given in a lump sum, weekly or monthly, and for how long)

I am not sure how I am supposed to answer this question. He will be my husband once he arrives. So I am not sure what the proper response would be for myself, and what the proper response would be for my co-sponsor to place on their form.

Confused!

Write down N/A (K1 visa process for permanent residence).

The form is for all different types of visas and just not applicable in K1 cases.

Our I-134 was actually rejected at our first interview for answering question 11 wrong. We had to schedule a new interview. Our co-sponsor checked do not intend to make specific contributions which was not acceptable. We were instructed to have our co-sponsor indicate that she would provide money and/or food and shelter, as needed, until the sponsored alien was able to support himself. I answered the same question in a similar way. Hmmm........I bet I still have the email

From the consulate:

" I saw the tax return and that part is ok. However, your sister checked the "do not intend" to make specific contributions to support this person box on the I-134 form. Particularly given the geographic distance between yourself and your sister, we either need her to change her mind and send an affadavit stating how she is willing to assist your fiancé and prevent him from becoming a public charge, or have a new co-sponsor. Let us know if you have other questions.

I originally had her select "do not intend" because there wasn't a "specific" payment she was going to make or amount she was going to give us...it was as-needed....but we fixed that part and all was well....It is a confusing question.

Thanks for informing me of that... making a big note on it! However, what was it you stated on ur form?

after reading the replies after this, id like to add that this is (Laura's) a correct answer for K1 that doesn't have co-sponsor, right?

We also wrote "N/A - K3", no problems.

This is the correct answer weather there is a co sponsor or not. :)

Good Luck!

Timeline: 13 month long journey from filing to visa in hand

If you were lucky and got an approval and reunion with your loved one rather quickly; Please refrain from telling people who waited 6+ months just to get out of a service center to "chill out" or to "stop whining" It's insensitive, and unecessary. Once you walk a mile in their shoes you will understand and be heard.

Thanks!

In Morocco, they told me that the I-134 was not a requirement on their list of documents. That being said, we submitted it anyway. I checked "intend" and wrote in "Full support secondary to marital relationship." We had no problems with that response.

I think she should do what you did..submit it anyway, and write the same thing you did.

I have been told from some friends of mine that has gone through Casablanca, that some had asked for it and some have not. I was also told, that some will ask for documents as a delay tactic. I am going to go on ahead and fill out the form and send it to him just in case they say at interview that its needed. Covering all my bases... geesh I have waited enough..no more!
