Hey guys,

I was just looking for some advice from anyone who has gone through the interview process at the Casablanca consulate in Morocco. I've heard horror stories about it so I just wanted to know what my fiancee should be prepared for.

A couple of things that I am hoping will help our case is 1) that we met in person - I was studying abroad and we met at the same university. So, it's not like I just met her online or anything which could possibly be considered sketchy. Plus, 2) she is a girl, and I heard that they go a little easier on girls than guys. Also, 3) she was an English major, and has been speaking English since she was growing up in Jordan, so she is basically fluent, and language won't be a problem. How much do you think these factors will help our case, if at all?

We have photos, passport stamps, transcripts, her school ID card, and a certificate of completion on my part to prove we were together at the same university (within 2 years) and emails, a couple letters, a couple MSN convos and lots of phone bills to prove we have an ongoing relationship.

She also teaches at a cooking school where she lives and she's met people who work at the consulate in the visa department there (they've taken cooking classes with her) so it'd be nice if the person interviewing her already met her in her cooking class!! hahah

Just looking for any heads up though and advice about what could help and what to expect for her interview. Thanks.

Chris

This is my best advice: Just tell her to be truthful as to how she feel about you. Have all your paperwork, photos, etc in order and have her take it with her cuz they may ask to see pics or not, ya never know with casa. Have her take a friend with her to hold her phone or purse at a nearby cafe or somewhere to wait as your fiance can't take it in with her plus she will need moral support. Go over all the possible questions listed here on VJ and make sure she knows your history, relatives, etc. Be prepared to answer any questions they may have about red flags, such as age, length of knowing each other, whatever. It seems they often like to throw in a few "testy" questions and see how the person will react. Just answer the questions without offering lots of extra info. And last, don't panic. They will give her a paper at the end of the interview. If it says they are looking into your name or whatever in Washington, that usually means you will probably have good luck. If they say they are going to send your papers back to the USA, that's not usually good. If so, you need to try to stop them from leaving casa through phone calls, emails, etc. You can get more advice from others. I wish you luck.

Just be prepared and be calm about things, all questions should be answered truthfully and take all the evidence you can even if they don't ask you for anything at least you have more than they could ever need from you. Don't think so much of those who may have had horrible experiences but think positive and you will do well. I wish you the best and know that you will tell us your visa was approved next time we see you here in VJ.
