Anyone have any tips for interview in Montreal? Anything would be great :star:

At the time I have put all my files in a 13 pocket folder with the sections listed for easy access. Sent my passport for update b/c its almost up so ill have a new one come interview.

I can't memorize very many number type things at once, if I can't remember his phone number is this a bad thing? lol I have read some posters saying they were denied their visas for tiny questions answered wrong or not exactly to the date for things!.

Thanks guys n girls :star:

At the top u wil SEE: Reviews: Embassy/USCIS click on that, then select canada! PILES of reviews

Reviews: Embassy/USCIS

right beside that is reviews of POE's! Best of luck

Canadians Visiting the USA while undergoing the visa process, my free advice:

1) Always tell the TRUTH. never lie to the POE officer

2) Be confident in ur replies

3) keep ur response short and to the point, don't tell ur life story!!

4) look the POE officer in the eye when speaking to them. They are looking for people lieing and have been trained to find them!

5) Pack light! No job resumes with you

6) Bring ties to Canada (letter from employer when ur expected back at work, lease, etc etc)

7) Always be polite, being rude isn't going to get ya anywhere, and could make things worse!!

8) Have a plan in case u do get denied (be polite) It wont harm ur visa application if ur denied, that is if ur polite and didn't lie! Refer to #1

What to wear - whatever you want, you won't be denied based upon your wardrobe! I just wore capris and a tank with sandals, as it was in July.

Make sure your papers are all organized, so when they ask you for them you don't have to fumble looking. When you get in the elevator, it opens from the REAR!!

Get there before 7am, if possible as that's when the line starts and if you want to get out early it's "first come first serve"

Good luck!

They did ask me what street my fiancees parents lived on, which was a bit odd but I knew the answer anyway.

First remember to relax and take some change if you want a coffee or something as there are vending machines up there on the 19th floor. Many say this is the easy part and you will find everyone friendly. Don't forget to take a moment and enjoy the view of Montreal. The best of luck to you!

We had our paperwor & info in a 3" 3-ring binder. I did bring JUST the binder in a bag, though, and we were allowed in with the bag. I had a smaller bag inside for our hotel key, lip gloss, and my sunglasses. Other than that, we brought nothing. Oh... have your letter and passport(s) out & available for when they open (unchain) the front doors at 7:30am. If you get their early (which I HIGHLY suggest), stand on the side of the door where the yellow post is. :)

It's the biggest anti-climatic thing ever! You'll seriously laugh at yourself afterwards for having been nervous! Just have your interview letter, passport, the 2008 tax stuff from your spouse/spnsor, photos and don't forget your Xpress envelope!! If you get there first you could be out in as little as 1.5hrs or if they are having problems with the finger print scanners or their computers then it could be 4+ hrs! Seriously - I was there forever but only spoke to people at the counter/in the little "closet" room for 10 mins total!! I spent more time making friends with other people in the waiting room!

Ours couldn't have been anymore than 5 minutes, and I was asked a grand total of 3 questions. Just be confident and prepared and you'll do just fine! I had one of those accordion binders as well, and they let us through with it no problem. Try not to bring any electronics but if you do, they'll just hold it for you at the security area for pickup when you'll all done. We arrived at 6:45 in the morning and we were third in line, so definitely go early! You'll be thankful.
