CFO EXIT SEMINAR

I could use some help and advice with the things we need to do next, because I just found out about something called the CFO Exit Seminar and it is very confusing. Apparently we can’t just get her Visa delivered and get on an airplane to go back to the States. I have been told by other VJ members that Maria will need her Passport stamped with a sticker by the CFO, proving that she attended the Exit Seminar. I’ve been on the CFO web site and now am more confused.

There seems to be two different programs. One is for Philippine people going overseas to work, and the other is for Fiances and or Spouses. The first one appears to be held in the CFO building in Manila or on Cebu and the other one in a place for the PRISM Program in Manila (Fiance and Spouses seem to go to the PRISM program). The PRISM program seems to cost 250 Pesos, but if I am reading the web site correctly the Fiance still then has to go to the other location to get Verification and the Sticker, and that is another 400 Pesos. The other program at the CFO building appears to be scheduled by appointment at least five days in advance, but the PRISM program appears to be held without a need for appointment. I think she can attend PRISM without an appointment and pay the 250 Pesos, and then go to the CFO building without an appointment (since she is not actually attending a Seminar there). Since the Seminar at the CFO building is by appoinment five days in advance only, I'm worried that after attending the PRISM we then have at least another five day wait to get the Verification at the CFO building. I've got airplane tickets coming up in late June, so I'm worried.

This is so darn confusing. What can you tell me about it?

Not too many tourist coming,so you know what that means ...A few years back,OFWs also has to pay terminal fees...but they have changed it into OEC to make it sounds better:))

Workers with new contracts have to pay for an OWWA membership when they go to their worksites abroad, as well as buy separate insurance, after which an Overseas Employment Certificate is issued to them. The OEC is presented at the airport when a worker checks in for a flight, exempting him or her from travel tax worth 1,670 pesos (US$34) and airport tax. The OEC, which costs 100 pesos (2$) is only valid for a single trip. So a worker has to apply and pay for it every time he or she travels abroad from the Philippines either upon getting a new contract or simply returning to work from a holiday. More travel means more money for the government through these OECs. However, once again workers are largely unaware how the government spends these funds....and one more thing...we used to pay for trolley at the airport for 1$...!

If this project saves at least one person from such abuse, I say pay up and quit bashing the government.

Since you are posting here I have to assume that you are referring to abuse and/or fraud in the US to Filipinos. Here is an example of Filipinos breaking US laws. LOS ANGELES — A total of 49 Filipinos were deported back to their home countries by the US Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) last week. Forty-six of those removed had been convicted of criminal offenses that include felony drug trafficking and possession, child abuse, sex crimes, aggravated assault, weapons possession, identity theft, stalking and burglary. How many of these offenders would be saved if they attended CFO seminars ? What does this program do to help Filipinos when In Asia, 60% of all women have been assaulted. The impact on children is appalling. Body Shop International estimates that 1.8 to 3.2 million children in the Philippines are exposed to domestic violence and suffer the traumatic effects for the rest of their lives. This number just escalates year after year. Thatz not the point. Poor Filipinos get pesos sucked out of their pocket by unjustifiable fees upon leaving the country. Itz like having a gun pointed to your head, "Pay or else" you cant leave. And that sucks, no matter how many roses you surround it with.
