K1 Visa & Immigration

Hi all,

I'd like to know if for any reason, the anwers we give to the immigration officer at the port of entry, when we visit the US on a tourist visa, are somehow recorded by them.

I'm asking because I was in the US about a month ago, to visit my fiancé (still boyfriend at that time) and meet his family. If everything was fine, we would apply for the K1 visa. (Everything was wonderful, by the way... I loved his family, I was proposed, we got engaged and when I arrived here in Brazil we applied for the K1 visa...)

When I arrived there, the officer made me a lot of questions... I didn't mention my fiance at any point, just told him I wanted to go on tourism.

After all those questions, he let me in and gave me a 6-month permit.

My question is: do you guys think this may be a problem in the future? Do you think these answers would be available to the officers who will analyze my petition and they would see it as a lie to the immigration? Do the officers search for this kind of info when working on petitions?

It was my first trip to the US, I didn't overstay, didn't get married there and left the country before we file the petition.

Can anyone tell me anything else about it?

Thanks a lot!!

Lol I was wondering the same thing. I went to Morocco to visit my fiance... and was bombared by alot of stupid questions.. how I got my ticket, who bought it, how did I pay for it...etc... I was dying to tell her I had a yard sale! I know she was typing it in on a computer, whether it was recorded officially or not I dont know.

You should be fine; you weren't lying after all, they did not ask if you had a fiance, and I am sure you did some sightseeing while in the US!

It strengthens the love, it attaches you even more to each other, it shows how your man would do whatever it takes to be with you, that he will never give up on you because he LOVES you!! All the waits, stresses, tears, heartaches, all the miserable feelings you feel along the way will be paid off once you get what you've been hoping for...oh and WITHOUT PRAYERS? will be like trying to start a fire with water, JUST WON'T WORK!

I'm pretty sure that they just ask a lot of these questions to justify your travel, and even if they did log them, you were there to visit, if he didnt ask who, and you didnt say, it won't be held against you. I think them typing on the computer is them putting your information through a quick scan to make sure you dont have any overstays to bar you from entry or any criminal history that immediately pops up that would prevent you either. I really don't think you have to worry at all. If he asked questions and you answered them, you were under no obligation to tell him more than he asked, and you didnt overstay, get married or do anything else. If he would have doubted you, you wouldnt have got your visitors visa.

Deep breaths and a (((hug))) for you!

Guys,

The officer asked if I had friends there and I asnwered that I didn't (well I really didn't know anyone there except for my fiance, who was still my boyfriend...)... He didn't ask if I had a fiancé though...

Now, to be honest, I really can't remember if he typed something while talking to me... But I think he didn't... I was so so nervous that I can't remember much of what happened... Odd huh??

This has been stuck on my mind since I left there and from times to times I worry about it... Really hope they don't look for this kind of info!

Anyway, thank you guys for your replies...

Hugs to all of you and good luck!! (F)

Your answers were not recorded so you'll be fine.......but....in the future answer any question with the truth.

You went back home before the visa expired; that is the important thing. Overstay is a bad thing.
