my fiance (foreign) came across a book published in 2006, and it states that in order to get the i-129f approved, as well as the entire K1 process, you need to show proof of wedding plans??

has anyone else come across this?

been reading VJ since December, and this is the first i am hearing of this..

it is necessary?

or for proof of ongoing relationship for his interview, would it help to have a deposit on a wedding dress/ venue/ date/ wedding rings purchased??

you do not have to prove wedding plans,as you can not tell when your I-129f will be approved. You must have proof of an on going relationship.

No.

You must sign a letter indicating you are willing and able to get married within 90 days of arrival. They do not care how, where, etc. Not at all important, you only need to have "intent" which I suppose could be expressed as "plans to get married" But you do not need specifics

You do not need a wedding dress, engagement ring, or any such thing to prove "ongoing realtionship" Of course such things COULD be used for that but not necessary.

Some people use the receipts for the engagement ring as proof of the relationship and intent to marry to show at the interview, but it's not necessary or mandatory. The letter of intent must be what they were referring to.

The only proof you need is that the relationship is valid and ongoing.
