Petioning i130 to help friend, translation needed?

Right now i am helping a friend do her i130, when i did mine , i had all my documents translated. I seen somewhere on VJ that you dont need the documents translated anymore. Thank you for your help

You misunderstood. Any official document submitted to USCIS with the petition, if not in English, must be accompanied by a certified translation. Strangely, this is no longer mentioned in the I-130 instructions but you can use the translation instructions found with the I-129F or I-485.

Just where did you see that? Perhaps a correction is in order.

This is why you read ALL instructions carefully, interpret literally and respond accurately. Context is part of careful reading. It's the beneficiary's passport that is no longer needed.

It's not ONLY the translation that's no longer needed, you no longer need the entire document (passport or birth cert of BENEFICIARY)....at this stage. Likely due to the fact that it will be required at the interview stage.

It's not ONLY the translation that's no longer needed, you no longer need the entire document (passport or birth cert of BENEFICIARY)....at this stage. Likely due to the fact that it will be required at the interview stage.

The actual passport has always been required at the interview stage, as the visa gets affixed to a page in the passport. No passport, no visa.
